Good Things II

I’m listing some of my favorite things, ranging from books to medicinal herbs and crystals. You’ll find links and suggestions. I am NOT an affiliate with any of these people or services. I simply like them — and thought you might, too.

Medicinal Foods

Amazing chocolate formulas. The green drink is wonderful, and they offer great recipes. Everything is made in Hawaii. It may take a few days for delivery. Click here.

Energetix

Energetix formulas are quite good, and they can be found on Amazon.

Tinctures for Health

Made by a young herbalist from mushrooms gathered near the Pisgah National Forest, I’ve found these products invigorating and supportive of better health. (Products are “local” if you’re on the east coast.)

chaga

Lion’s Mane mushroom (Hericium erninaceus) has been used for millennia by Buddhist Monks to improve brain function.  Two of its unique classes of constituents hericenones and erinacines have been found to increase Nerve Growth Factor (stimulate nerve regeneration.)

Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is called the King of Mushcrooms because of its anticarcinogenic, immunomodulatory, antitumor, adaptogenic, anti-mutagenic, geno-protective, antiviral, and antioxidant properties.  (David Wolfe is perhaps chaga’s most famous advocate and author of the only book dedicated to the fungus.)

Books and Movies

I haven’t watched any fabulous movies or series. I love streaming through Amazon and Hulu (no commercials or news.) I “change” channels often on Amazon.

Here are a few of my recent book selections.

The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey. It’s exquisite, and the book was a Pulitzer Prize finalist. Read it!

Working with Angels, Fairies, and Nature Spirits by William Bloom. It’s about communicating with the natural world for healing, growth, and co-operation.

The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman. It’s not as good as Practical Magic, but I couldn’t resist the sequel.

Marriage of Opposites by Alice Hoffman. It’s a fabulous read about Pissaro’s mother. Descriptions are exquisite and masterful.

News of the World by Paulette Jiles. Novel is based on real life accounts of people who were captured by Native Americans.

The Time Traveler’s Guide to Medieval England by Ian Mortimer.

Making the Gods Work for You by Caroline Casey.

Healing Mantras by Thomas Ashley-Farrand.

The Valkyries by Paulo Coelho. It’s a strange (but good) book about angels.

Julia Griffin, Intuitive Healer and Coach

Julia Griffin, intuitive healer and owner of One True Self, began her work fifteen years ago under the tutelage of real wolves. Following their direction, Julia sees and reads energy, including animals, plants and people. She works with people in session to find their resonance with the soul, clearing patterns and alignment with their inner path.

Speaking with Your Angels

Here, Trudy Griswold tells us how it’s done — including an effective  21 day program for learning to receiving clear messages from our guides on a daily basis.

Julia: How do we begin to open to the angelic or divine realms and experience our higher consciousness?

Trudy: This begins with willingness. The beings in this realm want to help us. Most of us can’t see, feel, or hear the angels. However, simply understanding or knowing that they are there is the first step. The angels can teach us to align with our higher consciousness when we begin with this first step.

Once we have attained this knowing that the divine realm exists and is there to help us, there are four steps that can be followed for angelic guidance. These four steps have literally changed my entire life. I have a partnership with my divine group and a true guidance system. My life is so much better. I worry less, and I am so much happier.

The formula for divine guidance is as follows:

    1. Asking is the first step. The angels want to help us, but they cannot help unless we first ask. Learn to ask for what it is that you want or for guidance in whatever problem you need help with. Be very specific. Write down as many details as possible.
    2. The second step is timing. The angels have their own timing. A problem will be resolved at the correct time. Answers always come at the right time.
    3. Letting go is the third step. Let the problem go completely. Let it happen, let the angels flow through
    4. Saying “thank you” is the fourth step. An attitude of gratitude keeps the flow moving. When we are grateful, the energy moves on this wave of appreciation.

The first step comes through the intellect as it forms the question and specifies the details.

The second step comes through the heart — we trust with our hearts that the answer comes at the right time.

The third step comes through the solar plexus as we let go of the emotions surrounding this center.

The fourth step is gratitude for the help that completes the process and lets it flow into action.

Julia: I’m curious. When we ask, how detailed should we make the request?

Trudy: You should be absolutely specific. For example, if you want a new car, don’t just request “a new car.” There are many, many cars in our Universe, and when you ask for a new car, the angels aren’t sure which one you want. Ask for something specific; e.g., “a red 6-cylinder BMW with black upholstery.”

You may wonder why I used a BMW as an example? This is because I wish to deal with the fact that many of us believe it’s selfish to ask for good things, things that make us happy. We’ve been led to believe that we don’t need material possessions. But God and the angels want us to have every single thing that is good.

We can have material possessions without being greedy or selfish. It’s proper to ask for love, a wonderful job, and material possessions. It’s not selfish to want good things for ourselves. God and the angels want to share these wonderful things with us.

At the end of your specific request, you should always add that you are asking for “this or something better.” The Universe may have a better person, car, or job in mind for you, and adding those words to your request leaves the door open.

There is so much goodness in the Universe. It’s just waiting for everyone, but we cannot have what we do not ask for. Learning how to ask is such an important step!

It’s also important to remember that God never gives half of a gift. If you ask for a job in San Francisco, and the job comes, then you need to realize that you will be taken care of as you make each step. God will help you relocate, move, and find new friends. Each step that we make forward will be held in place by the support we have asked for and been given.

Julia: In your books, you say it is very effective to learn how to receive messages through the angels by writing. Can you explain that technique to me?

Trudy: First of all, you can say a prayer before you start the exercises, and ask the angels to be with you. Prayer wraps us in protection.

The angels also tell me that when we breathe deeply after asking for their presence, they come to us through our breathing. We become open when we breathe deeply, and the angels can actually come through every part of our bodies.

After doing this, “see” your guidance group gathered around you, and now start writing a letter to yourself from the angels:

Your letter might start, “Dear Julia, We love you and _____________.” You would just start writing the words that come into your consciousness or heart. The message is in your inner knowing. It will not come through the intellect.

We have found that most people are not clairvoyant or clairaudient, but that many are clairsentient. They will have a sensation of knowing that becomes more and more frequent. It is matter of “knowing what you know.”

If you find yourself thinking that the information is something you have known deeply within yourself for a long time, that is correct. We plan our lives in great detail before we ever arrive on Earth. We choose our parents, our siblings, and the time that we arrive and depart — and then we forget it all. So we’ve created this wonderful plan we can no longer remember.

Those who are in spirit, like the angels, can see the bigger picture and share it with us. The angels are not limited by a third-dimensional body, as we are. When we pray or commune with the angels, they help us to align again with our own plan. So it is natural that the messages should seem familiar.

Julia: How can one discern between “making up” the messages and knowing that they are messages of the Higher Self or the angels?

Trudy: First of all, practice is important. We ask that everyone in the beginning will write the letters for twenty-one days. It takes twenty-one days to establish a habit. That’s the reason for the stipulation.

As you become accustomed to asking for guidance, you will begin to notice a difference in the phrasing of the words and sentences as they come through the angels. There is also the resonance or inner knowing that I spoke of earlier. You will begin to develop an awareness of the difference in the messages.

Julia: Should we ask for the names of the angels who are helping us?

Trudy: You may ask for an angel’s name, and you may feel that the name you receive is familiar to you. There are groups of angels that guide us through our entire lives and stay with us all the time, so it’s not surprising that you would feel a sense of familiarity.

The names are sometimes unfamiliar, too — they may be comprised of syllables and be representative of a group of angels that is helping you.

If you feel that you need a name and that it this would be helpful to you, then you should ask for one. But you don’t always need a name — it is possible to receive the guidance that you need just by feeling the presence of the angel.

Julia: You spoke of your guidance group. How do they differ from the angels? Is this a group of angels?

Trudy: When I speak of an angel, I am speaking about masters, spirit guides, angels, teachers — all those who are on the other side. They have similar emanations, as they are in the angelic realm — a place of “good,” a place without polarity — and they all wish to help us attain our greater good. The guidance system can consist of many of these beings.

People who have passed on often can help those of us who remain on Earth. They are very much with us in spirit, and often work with family members to share their larger perspective of freedom and love.

Julia: I have noted that in working toward higher consciousness, it is not uncommon to find blocks within the self that hold us in an old, negative position — and yet it is painful to encounter them, and easy to become discouraged when this happens. What do you advise?

Trudy: Finding and achieving balance is one of the most difficult and important tasks on this planet. We all construct or assemble our reality in accordance to the happiest and saddest times in our lives. When we move toward happiness, we encounter the parts of us that are enmeshed in the sad times.

Unhappiness simply teaches us what we don’t want. For instance, if you were born into a family that was unloving, then you will want to create love in your life. If your job makes you feel unhappy, then you need to create another job. This is the way in which we identify the direction in which we should flow.

Yet our consciousness often tends to gravitate on unhappiness. People may tell you all day long how beautiful you are — compliment your makeup or hair or clothes — and then one person comes along and tells you that your hair looks terrible, and for the rest of the day you “play” that one negative comment.

We tend to focus on negativity instead of the good. You have to let goodness flow through you and walk in the knowledge that you are an integral part of God’s plan.

These experiences of happiness and unhappiness, of good and bad, are reflections of polarity — the state of movement between opposites on this plane. When we leave negativity behind, it means moving through the blocks that have caused our unhappiness. It is difficult, because we are trying to flow toward being positive and yet we are experiencing the negativity underlying the old situation.

It is essential to realize that these challenges are part of spiritual growth. This difficult learning is vital in opening the doors to our good. People often think that spirituality is magic. It’s not. It involves real work on the physical plane.

The angels say that as one door is closing we are walking toward a door that is opening — but it can be hell waiting in the hall for the new door to open. We simply have to trust that the door is going to open. We have to be patient and let go.

While we wait, we should get busy and do what we love. Create joy in whatever way we can.

Also, the angels say that if we really want change, we should clean our house. And I do mean this literally. Physically clean your house!

Julia: Do you have any tips on patience and waiting while living through challenges? These are difficult soul qualities to develop.

Trudy: Sometimes, we need help with our challenges. We have to ask, “How can I let go of this challenge? How can I make my mind stop thinking about this?” The answer is to ask the angels for help, while knowing that we are being supported through the challenge.

You go through the four steps that I outlined, and ask, “What do I really want in a new relationship? What I do really want in a new job?” You ask for help, and you write down everything you can think of that you want in the relationship or job.

After you have called the angels in, you become patient. When the time is right, the plan will unfold precisely.

It’s like sending a letter. You write the letter, putting all of your passion and hopes in the letter, and you put it in an envelope and mail it. But after you mail it, you don’t stand there and wait for the postman. You don’t demand that the postman guarantee that the letter be delivered, or worry about whether the letter reaches its destination. You simply trust that it will.

It works in the same way with the angels. You have to trust that the angels will take care of your challenges.

Another important point is to know that you will be given work in the physical world each day. We have to do our work, because we live in the physical world, and we can only work one day at a time.

It’s important to stay out of the future. When we look at the future, our fear starts to build. Instead, we take one step at a time, let go, and say thank you.

So the secret to a spiritual life is staying present, doing the physical work, and remaining patient while having faith that the angels are helping.

Julia: Much of the advice you have received from angels seems practical, involving day to day matters. Is this true?

Trudy: Yes, it is. We can only live one day at a time. That is absolutely the most any of us can handle. So you may receive information about bills or cleaning your house or exercising. The angels are highly practical and may give you information about your house or children.

The angels have to teach us how to live in each day more fully and wholly. We have to learn how to live correctly in the physical body and the physical world. Living in this way teaches us balance, and it brings clarity, spirituality, and joy into our lives.

Whatever we are living from day to day is our lifework. This is the way in which we develop a spiritual life. It is the way that life unfolds.

Julia: Do you have any thoughts in closing?

Trudy: In the beginning, the angels told me that the most important thing was love. I thought, “Oh, this is easy. I love my husband. I love my children. I love my friends. I can do this.”

But then the angels told me that self-love is the type of love they meant — developing a capacity for loving yourself more fully. Through learning to love ourselves, we learn to love each other more. Through love of self, we change our physical habits, such as food or exercise. We establish boundaries. We learn to listen to our greater truth and our inner guidance.

This is the real lesson we have come to learn. I say to myself each day, “Thy will be done.” I try to feel God’s flow for me in each day. And I take it one day at a time and remind myself that the best is yet to come.

Last Quarter Forecast

The moon moves into its last quarter, a time of developing abilities and expanding existent projects. It’s also important to consider aspects of life that require release, surrender, and faith. Additionally, this phase gives time to gather energy and focus before the solar eclipse/new moon on Sunday, Feb. 26.

We are moving through the last vestiges of the Piscean Age, which are exacerbated by Neptune in Pisces. Astrologer M. Kelly Hunter refers to the current global fear as “a mass hypnotic trance” that is transcended by focusing on the wave of universal love, which includes everything and everyone. (Next week’s eclipse/new moon intensely features Pisces; it’s a good time to rewrite the past.)

Sun (life) is currently in Aquarius and moves into Pisces on Feb. 18. Currently, Mercury (communication) in Aquarius conjuncts (close to) the sun, bringing in new waves of higher thoughts and a stronger ability to connect to the divine mind. Mercury is currently trine (harmoniously placed) with Jupiter (good fortune)  in Libra, bringing balance and harmony to the thinking process. (Both signs are in air, which can give space for inspired thought.)

This chart is hot! Venus, Mars, and Uranus sit in Aries, the fire sign, which rules beginnings. This placement ignites a tendency to make big changes and take physical action, but it’s not the right time. It’s far better to contemplate desires and consider their source—ego or inner self?

Mars (male energy, assertion) sits opposite to Jupiter (good fortune) in Libra, indicating strong actions can take us away from the benevolent forces of the big planet. Jupiter is also retrograde, slowing success and good fortune. (The other planets are direct, so it’s not a huge influence.) Jupiter also opposes Uranus in Aries, meaning to wait on taking action with spiritual intuitions.

Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus square (create tension) with Pluto, representing the underground, the subconscious, and transmutation. These aspects are not easy—and may represent some type of crisis or change for many people. On the other hand, staying centered in crisis is part of mastery.

Saturn (time, limitation) in Sagittarius offers help with fear and obstacles by encouraging our ability to tap into inner (and earned) wisdom. There is almost always a solution if we look deeply enough into our own being and sincerely ask for help.

Positive Aspects

Every chart has its own meaning and balance. There are some very beautiful trines included in this forecast.

  • Sun trines Jupiter for the next two days, giving insight into problems—and possibly solutions, which come in a very beneficial way. It’s a harmonious aspect, featuring inspired thought and the higher mind.
  • Mercury trines Jupiter, increasing the benefit of Sun trine Jupiter. It may be possible to meditate and hold the “feeling” or visual of a solution in our minds, then experience it in physical form. There is a special clarity with both trines occurring simultaneously. Or it may simply be a “gift” of seeing a better future, which we cannot yet completely perceive.
  • Saturn trines Uranus, offering an opportunity to transcend karma by contemplating and acting on concepts, which exist in the quantum field. For example, we may perceive how energy affects form or increases healing, or we may receive divine help from our angels and guides.

Angels, Invisible Helpers

angel_small
Part of discovering a new perspective or higher frequency lies with inner work. When we confront problems, we can find our center, visualize a color or different solution, or ask for universal help by calling on our angels.

At some point on our spiritual journey, we gain an awareness of the reality of the “invisible” universe, the light which lies beneath every material form. We realize the invisible universe speaks the language of love and of the heart, and, as a result, our lives are forever altered. Then, we receive invisible helpers, often known as angels. We also open to the expression of our spiritual gifts. The angels are always around us, but their help or benevolent intervention increases through communication.

The angels mysteriously bring solutions, answers and encouragement. They teach us to alter our thoughts, feelings and emotions so our lives change. As we reach toward more light, the angels are truly a short cut to the realization of a happier life, for our negative thoughts, emotions and actions reduce our frequency, acting as karma that blots out the available light beamed to us daily through the Universe. Therefore, let us learn to become more active with the angels so our lives become reflections of happiness, success and joy by moving into unconditional love, the underlying substance of all miracles in the quantum field.

Recognizing Your Angels

Angels tend to speak softly and gently. Their voices fall on the ears like sweet rain, a breeze or the swaying of trees. The fragrance or scent of roses may accompany their communications. You may see beautiful visions like vacation postcards or a solution that appears in a flash of light. Their presence is uplifting; it is like the rays of the sun through a cloud. The angels bring solutions in impossible ways with non-linear solutions, so remain open to their voices, their waves of freedom and higher vibration.

Angels have one purpose: to bring freedom from the limitations of life through love by lifting us to a higher plane of consciousness. They see the beauty, potential and possibility within each of us and are always delighted to respond. Angels have many functions, including increasing our spiritual abilities such as telepathy or clairvoyance, increasing the likelihood of positive events, solving impossible problems and helping us to raise our frequency to a higher level. But the angels cannot help unless we petition them through letters, names, visualization or meditation.

Visualizing many angels around you as you work, plan your schedule or future is always helpful. As your abilities increase, you’ll receive intuition or higher information about steps to take, potential possibilities, a message to “stop here”, change directions or make a phone call. Angelic guidance is subtle, so it’s best to ask for help and guidance as opposed to direct questions. Angels often answer “yes” or “no” through doors opening and closing, books falling from a shelf or a repetitive feeling or words.

The angels also tend to give answers that make us happy in the moment, which may or may not be totally correct. For example: Asking if this is the right job or the right partner for life may lead you astray. It’s better to ask for a high light and love level for your job search or the feeling of the direction of the right partner.

In addition to asking for help, we must learn to recognize both their presence and their answers, through the act of discernment and limitation of the lower mind. The lower mind always associates spiritual growth with fear and limitation, for this part of the mind focuses on survival and self-protection (not growth or healthy boundaries.) Initially, the lower mind and intuition may be a source of confusion, so ask for hints and help at repetitive intervals. If the voice sounds sharp or insistent, if so you may be hearing your ego, not your angels.

Talking to Your Angels

Asking for Help:

  • When you have a specific need, ask for more prosperity or the right relationship or health—the more detailed and frequent your request, the better. Why? Because human beings think hundreds of thoughts each day, and many of the thoughts cancel one another out. When your request is frequent, the angels know you mean it. NOW is also a good word to add to angel letters, prayers and visualizations. To the angels, you are saying: I want this NOW. I’m willing to go through my fears and move forward. Give me a push.
  • Stay open to unexpected answers. Your answer may come through a friend. Money can appear in a number of ways, not just work. You may meet Mr. Right at a business conference. A magazine can open to the right prescription or natural supplement for you. (If you’re not sure, then ask for a repeat, such as, “Okay, angels. I think I got the message but would you repeat the sign more loudly so I’m sure?”)
  • When you don’t know the sought-after answer, ask the angels to clear the energy around you. Ask for clear vision and the right answer at the right time. You can say, “Angels, you see life from a higher perspective, please clear all of the lower energies in my field. Raise me to higher level of consciousness so that I make the right decisions; receive the right inspiration and move forward easily. (The angels are wonderful at lifting your spirits out of the doldrums!)
  • Sometimes, we are in unbearable situations. We have to wait to change jobs, make more money or change/find a new relationship. When this is the case, you can ask the angels to clear the energy around you, the energy of the people around you, and the weight of the problem. A good affirmation is: Angels, I know you have all of the right answers. Please share your clear vision with me. Give the courage to move forward through this situation. So be it!”
  • Angels can clear attachments from other people or dark energies. Archangel Michael is usually the best angel for clearing negativity. You can ask for protection for your children, car, home, income and pets. Suggestion: Put a bubble of light around all of the above each morning and night.
  • ALWAYS, ask for answers that come delightfully, joyously and easily. Otherwise, the angels will “punch” our buttons so we move very rapidly, but we will experience pain or dramatic circumstances as a catalyst for change.

Riding the Wave

In metaphysics, we’re taught to pay attention to the heart and the inner voice when life is smooth—and when it is turbulent. By paying attention to the moment, we can observe life and deepen our connection because life moves in patterns of up and down—the sensation of duality. Dealing with oscillation, which occurs within our emotions and thoughts, is part of moving to a higher level.

If we can observe the motion by connecting with our inner self, we progress on our spiritual path.

Tips:

1) When life moves easily, it’s good to expand the energy outwardly into the present and the near future. It’s also helpful to “see” good things for others and project a better, happier world. (Scientific experiments prove “seeing” good for others brings healing and positive energy into our lives.)

2) When the emotional/mental waves are low, it’s helpful to know they pass more quickly when we take time to tap into the spiritual self. We can replace lower thoughts with positive thoughts; we can substitute a positive emotion for a lower one. (We do this by meditating on peace, harmony, joy, or the feeling of a higher vibration.) We can send pink light (love) to the lower self, which feels the emotion.

3) The inner self always has a vision of a beautiful life, and angels are always around us. The “invisible” world (or quantum field) is said to be more real than visible world. It answers when we call on it—and when we’re ready to change.

4) Higher or lower feelings are not always real. Part of our response to life is our interpretation. It can come as a habitual reaction, a misinterpretation of energy, or the need to break a pattern. We often encounter patterns when moving to a higher level. This has more to do with us than the situation. In general, patterns are repetitive. (It’s wise before responding,) When we release patterns, we become free of specific events in life.

5) When we observe a thought or emotion, it becomes quieter. The inner dialog of the lower self becomes still because only the inner self can observe. The inner self generates positive emotions and thoughts. It delivers peaceful answers. By putting our consciousness in this place, life changes.

Questions can help.

In this time of rapid change, we feel our thoughts as well as the thoughts of others. We can clear our energy from mass consciousness or the energy of other people. We can meditate and visualize a different reality. Learning how to clear the thoughts and feelings of others is part of awakening.

1) Ask if an emotion is repetitive. Is it stored in the body? What is it expressing? Do you feel it at a particular time? Send light to the part of you that feels the emotion. Ask if the emotion can transform into a higher form.

2) Ask if the emotion or thought is yours. Does it come from another person? Is it related to mass consciousness? Can you vibrate above it?

3) Is your feeling intuitive? Does it come from reading energy from yourself, the future, or someone else? Can you change the energy? Can you send light to it or soften it?

Many teachings speak of “low” and “high” points as storms and rainbows. We think storms are difficult, and rainbows signal a time of abundance. Both are illusions on the path on life.

Beyond the illusion, there is a specific perfection. If we remain on the journey, we find (and become) the light.

Allana speaks about the relationship of the soul and physical pleasure as well as the nature of the heart. She relates how the heart can respond to pain and joy to become more whole and loving–if we allow it. She also tells us how the lower chakras are a place of power, which charge the body with physical energy, when we learn how to tap into their frequency. Allana presents a charged interview filled with the nuances of duality, including laughter, pain, joy, and interpretation of memory and experience.

Jennifer Hoffman is wonderfully cosmic and practical in the same instant. She explains the prevalent roles of humanity, how to discard them, and take on the image of the inner self. Always crystal clear and grounded, Jennifer explains the importance of taking action in the physical world and why we must act on our intuitions and spiritual leads. She also shares her insights about the “energy” of the summer, telling us how to grow with the light of a gentler time. (Jennifer also recorded and prepared a special gift for our listeners, which goes live today.)
