Planetary Change: Finding Our Power

On an astrological level, we’re currently working with emotion and power. It’s fairly easy to understand if we think about feeling powerless because of our encounters on an emotional level.

Emotions can give pause to our pursuit of life; they can elevate or diminish us. Alchemy states that emotions are the test of self-mastery, and modern spiritual teachings refer to the importance of choosing love over fear. Ultimately, outcomes and manifestations in life are tinted by our predominant emotion. We become powerful when we learn to alter a lower emotion/thought into a higher one.

Let’s look at the equation. Currently, Sun (outer life), Mercury (communications), and Venus (love, pleasure, beauty) are placed in the sign of Cancer, Sun and Mercury beautifully trine Mars (action, assertion) in Scorpio and Neptune (mysticism, illusion) in Pisces. The Grand Trine is lovely and beneficial; it can increase feelings of love and harmony (emotion) between those who are connected on a spiritual/energetic level. (Grand Trines make it easier to manifest.)

If we look more deeply at the trine, Mars in Scorpio can give courage and resolve; it can also bring anger to surface. Neptune encourages idealism and imagination on a spiritual level; it also makes it difficult to discern between illusion and inner direction.

Additionally, Sun, Mercury, and Venus oppose Pluto, the planet of power. These aspects  can create a power struggle in the areas of finance, relationships, and communication. (Or we can simply encounter someone with those problems.) There is also an emphasis on using our power to move through fear, which includes our personal emotions, inequality in the world at large, and believing in our power to change the world through many people united in the light.

Pluto tends to reveal things we don’t want to see. For example, it’s not exactly fun to find out where we feel powerless or how other people influence our moods and feelings. Sometimes, it’s difficult to see the truth about our tendency to color life with our emotions and thoughts. But it does bring freedom–if we are willing to shift.

Some of planets such as Saturn/Neptune, Jupiter/Saturn, Jupiter/Neptune, and Uranus/Pluto form squares or oppositions, which can make it difficult to find our personal truth. In other words, they can cause confusion. On the other hand, Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars trine Chiron, the wounded healer, indicate the strong possibility to moving beyond wounds and patterns–to seize an entirely new and better reality.

The emphasis on water indicates the possibility of using individual emotional strength (love, courage) to create changes on a global level. We create such changes through introspection, inner connection, and a strong pulse of love.
