Reading Signs

When I was a girl, I learned the meaning of animal tracks, the sound of the wind, and the motion of the clouds. My father was a fine woodsman, and he taught me how to decipher the sounds of birds, the rustle of leaves when a deer moved, and the silver, whispering noise of the fox.

As the sun rose, we walked down a long dirt road to the pond where animals congregated.  I learned to read the tracks of animals—decipher the meaning of the depth of the track, determine the sex, and the desire of the creature. Crows were guardians of the forest and alerted us to danger, safety, and presence of specific animals in the thick woods. (I studied for years until I mastered the meanings.)

The physical world still speaks, but I also hear and see the whisperings of the intuitive world. Many of you are probably quite sensitive to signs and energy. When you become more aware of how the universe speaks, it talks to you more often.

Here are some ways of listening, observing, and learning.

Daily Life

  1. Notice how you feel and how the world looks after meditating. It may appear brighter. If you meditate outdoors, the plants may look differently, or the birds may call to you. You may have strong ideas that can be developed or the urge to call a friend.
  2. When shopping, try to find the items that align most with your energy. The vegetables are not alike, and the mineral/vitamin content varies. Choose what’s best for you.
  3. Notice specific locations – and how they feel to you. Try to identify good energy and look for it in other locations.
  4. Change the order of errands and habits. See how you feel.
  5. Concentrate on a couple of friends and see if they communicate. Find the right energy and thoughts to pull them “in”. (Pink light works well.)

Angels

  1. Angels usually bring an uplifted and soft warmth when they are present.
  2. Sometimes, you’ll find feathers, and objects may reappear in a different place.
  3. There is often a feeling of peaceful and loving protection.

Feelings

  1. If you’re aligned, the house will become very quiet when it’s time to leave.
  2. People, who want to make contact energetically, will appear in your mind.
  3. People, who are not aligned, can make life feel chaotic.
  4. The future can sometimes create pressure. Asking for a higher vibration can alleviate it.
  5. If you feel tired or upset for “no” reason, ask the universe to lift your consciousness to a higher frequency. It’s probably mass consciousness.

Numbers

Master numbers indicate a higher vibration and awakening. . Below you’ll find my simple and basic reading of numbers.

111 = The Beginning of a Cycle of Change

222 = Duality, Awareness of the 2 sides of the self or a problem

333=The Presence of the Higher World, Magic, Angels

444=Working with the Material World to Put a Desire into Form

555=The Necessary Shift or Change to Reach a Higher Level

666=Overcoming the Lower Aspect of Duality while Creating a Desire

777=The Chakra System, Combining Physical and Spiritual Change to Create Change

888=Infinity, Invoking the Universe to Help Create the Desired Change

999=The Higher Level of Personal Alchemy, the Divine Feminine

If the desire is accomplished, a higher frequency is reached, and the cycle begins again.

Animals

If you see an animal out of context, it’s a messenger from the spirit world. The natural world is always speaking to us. There are many websites and books that can help identify the message and energy.

Animal Speak by Ted Andrews is a good reference book.

Medicine Cards: The Discovery of Power thought the Way of Animals by Jamie Sams provides cards and book for divining your totem animals.

Speaking with Your Angels

Here, Trudy Griswold tells us how it’s done — including an effective  21 day program for learning to receiving clear messages from our guides on a daily basis.

Julia: How do we begin to open to the angelic or divine realms and experience our higher consciousness?

Trudy: This begins with willingness. The beings in this realm want to help us. Most of us can’t see, feel, or hear the angels. However, simply understanding or knowing that they are there is the first step. The angels can teach us to align with our higher consciousness when we begin with this first step.

Once we have attained this knowing that the divine realm exists and is there to help us, there are four steps that can be followed for angelic guidance. These four steps have literally changed my entire life. I have a partnership with my divine group and a true guidance system. My life is so much better. I worry less, and I am so much happier.

The formula for divine guidance is as follows:

    1. Asking is the first step. The angels want to help us, but they cannot help unless we first ask. Learn to ask for what it is that you want or for guidance in whatever problem you need help with. Be very specific. Write down as many details as possible.
    2. The second step is timing. The angels have their own timing. A problem will be resolved at the correct time. Answers always come at the right time.
    3. Letting go is the third step. Let the problem go completely. Let it happen, let the angels flow through
    4. Saying “thank you” is the fourth step. An attitude of gratitude keeps the flow moving. When we are grateful, the energy moves on this wave of appreciation.

The first step comes through the intellect as it forms the question and specifies the details.

The second step comes through the heart — we trust with our hearts that the answer comes at the right time.

The third step comes through the solar plexus as we let go of the emotions surrounding this center.

The fourth step is gratitude for the help that completes the process and lets it flow into action.

Julia: I’m curious. When we ask, how detailed should we make the request?

Trudy: You should be absolutely specific. For example, if you want a new car, don’t just request “a new car.” There are many, many cars in our Universe, and when you ask for a new car, the angels aren’t sure which one you want. Ask for something specific; e.g., “a red 6-cylinder BMW with black upholstery.”

You may wonder why I used a BMW as an example? This is because I wish to deal with the fact that many of us believe it’s selfish to ask for good things, things that make us happy. We’ve been led to believe that we don’t need material possessions. But God and the angels want us to have every single thing that is good.

We can have material possessions without being greedy or selfish. It’s proper to ask for love, a wonderful job, and material possessions. It’s not selfish to want good things for ourselves. God and the angels want to share these wonderful things with us.

At the end of your specific request, you should always add that you are asking for “this or something better.” The Universe may have a better person, car, or job in mind for you, and adding those words to your request leaves the door open.

There is so much goodness in the Universe. It’s just waiting for everyone, but we cannot have what we do not ask for. Learning how to ask is such an important step!

It’s also important to remember that God never gives half of a gift. If you ask for a job in San Francisco, and the job comes, then you need to realize that you will be taken care of as you make each step. God will help you relocate, move, and find new friends. Each step that we make forward will be held in place by the support we have asked for and been given.

Julia: In your books, you say it is very effective to learn how to receive messages through the angels by writing. Can you explain that technique to me?

Trudy: First of all, you can say a prayer before you start the exercises, and ask the angels to be with you. Prayer wraps us in protection.

The angels also tell me that when we breathe deeply after asking for their presence, they come to us through our breathing. We become open when we breathe deeply, and the angels can actually come through every part of our bodies.

After doing this, “see” your guidance group gathered around you, and now start writing a letter to yourself from the angels:

Your letter might start, “Dear Julia, We love you and _____________.” You would just start writing the words that come into your consciousness or heart. The message is in your inner knowing. It will not come through the intellect.

We have found that most people are not clairvoyant or clairaudient, but that many are clairsentient. They will have a sensation of knowing that becomes more and more frequent. It is matter of “knowing what you know.”

If you find yourself thinking that the information is something you have known deeply within yourself for a long time, that is correct. We plan our lives in great detail before we ever arrive on Earth. We choose our parents, our siblings, and the time that we arrive and depart — and then we forget it all. So we’ve created this wonderful plan we can no longer remember.

Those who are in spirit, like the angels, can see the bigger picture and share it with us. The angels are not limited by a third-dimensional body, as we are. When we pray or commune with the angels, they help us to align again with our own plan. So it is natural that the messages should seem familiar.

Julia: How can one discern between “making up” the messages and knowing that they are messages of the Higher Self or the angels?

Trudy: First of all, practice is important. We ask that everyone in the beginning will write the letters for twenty-one days. It takes twenty-one days to establish a habit. That’s the reason for the stipulation.

As you become accustomed to asking for guidance, you will begin to notice a difference in the phrasing of the words and sentences as they come through the angels. There is also the resonance or inner knowing that I spoke of earlier. You will begin to develop an awareness of the difference in the messages.

Julia: Should we ask for the names of the angels who are helping us?

Trudy: You may ask for an angel’s name, and you may feel that the name you receive is familiar to you. There are groups of angels that guide us through our entire lives and stay with us all the time, so it’s not surprising that you would feel a sense of familiarity.

The names are sometimes unfamiliar, too — they may be comprised of syllables and be representative of a group of angels that is helping you.

If you feel that you need a name and that it this would be helpful to you, then you should ask for one. But you don’t always need a name — it is possible to receive the guidance that you need just by feeling the presence of the angel.

Julia: You spoke of your guidance group. How do they differ from the angels? Is this a group of angels?

Trudy: When I speak of an angel, I am speaking about masters, spirit guides, angels, teachers — all those who are on the other side. They have similar emanations, as they are in the angelic realm — a place of “good,” a place without polarity — and they all wish to help us attain our greater good. The guidance system can consist of many of these beings.

People who have passed on often can help those of us who remain on Earth. They are very much with us in spirit, and often work with family members to share their larger perspective of freedom and love.

Julia: I have noted that in working toward higher consciousness, it is not uncommon to find blocks within the self that hold us in an old, negative position — and yet it is painful to encounter them, and easy to become discouraged when this happens. What do you advise?

Trudy: Finding and achieving balance is one of the most difficult and important tasks on this planet. We all construct or assemble our reality in accordance to the happiest and saddest times in our lives. When we move toward happiness, we encounter the parts of us that are enmeshed in the sad times.

Unhappiness simply teaches us what we don’t want. For instance, if you were born into a family that was unloving, then you will want to create love in your life. If your job makes you feel unhappy, then you need to create another job. This is the way in which we identify the direction in which we should flow.

Yet our consciousness often tends to gravitate on unhappiness. People may tell you all day long how beautiful you are — compliment your makeup or hair or clothes — and then one person comes along and tells you that your hair looks terrible, and for the rest of the day you “play” that one negative comment.

We tend to focus on negativity instead of the good. You have to let goodness flow through you and walk in the knowledge that you are an integral part of God’s plan.

These experiences of happiness and unhappiness, of good and bad, are reflections of polarity — the state of movement between opposites on this plane. When we leave negativity behind, it means moving through the blocks that have caused our unhappiness. It is difficult, because we are trying to flow toward being positive and yet we are experiencing the negativity underlying the old situation.

It is essential to realize that these challenges are part of spiritual growth. This difficult learning is vital in opening the doors to our good. People often think that spirituality is magic. It’s not. It involves real work on the physical plane.

The angels say that as one door is closing we are walking toward a door that is opening — but it can be hell waiting in the hall for the new door to open. We simply have to trust that the door is going to open. We have to be patient and let go.

While we wait, we should get busy and do what we love. Create joy in whatever way we can.

Also, the angels say that if we really want change, we should clean our house. And I do mean this literally. Physically clean your house!

Julia: Do you have any tips on patience and waiting while living through challenges? These are difficult soul qualities to develop.

Trudy: Sometimes, we need help with our challenges. We have to ask, “How can I let go of this challenge? How can I make my mind stop thinking about this?” The answer is to ask the angels for help, while knowing that we are being supported through the challenge.

You go through the four steps that I outlined, and ask, “What do I really want in a new relationship? What I do really want in a new job?” You ask for help, and you write down everything you can think of that you want in the relationship or job.

After you have called the angels in, you become patient. When the time is right, the plan will unfold precisely.

It’s like sending a letter. You write the letter, putting all of your passion and hopes in the letter, and you put it in an envelope and mail it. But after you mail it, you don’t stand there and wait for the postman. You don’t demand that the postman guarantee that the letter be delivered, or worry about whether the letter reaches its destination. You simply trust that it will.

It works in the same way with the angels. You have to trust that the angels will take care of your challenges.

Another important point is to know that you will be given work in the physical world each day. We have to do our work, because we live in the physical world, and we can only work one day at a time.

It’s important to stay out of the future. When we look at the future, our fear starts to build. Instead, we take one step at a time, let go, and say thank you.

So the secret to a spiritual life is staying present, doing the physical work, and remaining patient while having faith that the angels are helping.

Julia: Much of the advice you have received from angels seems practical, involving day to day matters. Is this true?

Trudy: Yes, it is. We can only live one day at a time. That is absolutely the most any of us can handle. So you may receive information about bills or cleaning your house or exercising. The angels are highly practical and may give you information about your house or children.

The angels have to teach us how to live in each day more fully and wholly. We have to learn how to live correctly in the physical body and the physical world. Living in this way teaches us balance, and it brings clarity, spirituality, and joy into our lives.

Whatever we are living from day to day is our lifework. This is the way in which we develop a spiritual life. It is the way that life unfolds.

Julia: Do you have any thoughts in closing?

Trudy: In the beginning, the angels told me that the most important thing was love. I thought, “Oh, this is easy. I love my husband. I love my children. I love my friends. I can do this.”

But then the angels told me that self-love is the type of love they meant — developing a capacity for loving yourself more fully. Through learning to love ourselves, we learn to love each other more. Through love of self, we change our physical habits, such as food or exercise. We establish boundaries. We learn to listen to our greater truth and our inner guidance.

This is the real lesson we have come to learn. I say to myself each day, “Thy will be done.” I try to feel God’s flow for me in each day. And I take it one day at a time and remind myself that the best is yet to come.

Vibrating Above Difficulties

newsletter_newworld

Everyone faces small difficulties, but we can deal with them more easily by practicing simple techniques or changing our attitude.

1) The universe reveals our lower and higher nature as a part of altering our frequency to a higher level. When the lower nature is revealed, observe and acknowledge. Trust the process. Love both parts of you. Let go of judgment

2) Time is one of the issues of the current shift. Time lengthens when we meditate or work with the soul. It shortens when we listen to the ego (monkey mind), become too involved in worldly affairs, or listen too much to the task list. By watching the passage of time, we receive insights about our behavior and the placement of the heart.

3) Face the inevitable with a strong heart. Awakening changes our perception of life. Welcome it and move into the deepening motion of new life. (Accept new perspectives, let go of people, locations, and events, and open to the widening of life.)

4) Call on your guides and angels often. A strong connection with our angels can change “reality” immensely. Ask them for the best possible vision (or version) of life—and insights and intuitions on how to bring it into being.

5) See the beauty whenever possible. Look for the smiles of people with open hearts. Notice the perpetual, spiritual alignment of children and animals. Spend time in nature. Make time for 2 or 3 short walks or sit outside and meditate.

6) Whenever possible, choose not to judge the flow of events. When life seems to flow in the wrong direction, ask if there is a lesson or benefit in the change of direction. Sometimes, we are asked to slow down, enjoy nature, or see life from a new perspective. Value the twists and turns in life.

7) Ask for greater connection, development of spiritual gifts, and the power to move more deeply into the spiritual self. Sometimes, we have to ask for what we want. (It’s helpful to visualize how we feel and respond in a more spiritual state.) Obviously, some of us feel the shift more strongly than others. The universe speaks to us in accordance with our inner state of connection.)

Angels, the Invisible Helpers

angel_small

At some point on our spiritual journey, we gain an awareness of the reality of the “invisible” universe as part of the light which lies beneath  material form. We realize the universe speaks the language of heart, and we receive invisible helpers, often known as angels. The angels are always around us, but their benevolent intervention increases through our conscious communication and invocation.

Angels tend to speak softly and gently. Their voices fall on the ears like sweet rain, a breeze, or the swaying of trees. The fragrance of roses may accompany their presence. You may see beautiful visions like vacation postcards or a solution that appears in a flash of light.

At some point on our spiritual journey, we gain an awareness of the reality of the “invisible” universe as part of the light which lies beneath every material form. We realize the universe speaks the language of heart, and we receive invisible helpers, often known as angels. The angels are always around us, but their benevolent intervention increases through our conscious communication and invocation.

Angels are non-linear, and their advice does not always make sense on a rational level. It’s good to follow the soft voice and see where it leads. Talking with the angels—through letters, communion, meditation, or words—can help to create a big spiritual shift in life.

Talking to Your Angels

  • Frequent requests alert the angels to your strong desire for a “shift.” (Most of us vacillate about our strong desires.) NOW is a good word to add to angel letters, prayers and visualizations. You might use specific wording such as, “I want this NOW. I’m willing to go through my fears and move forward.”
  • Ask for the right vision, feelings, and thoughts to manifest a desire or change. (Manifestations occur from alignment and the right frequency.)
  • Stay open to unexpected answers. Your answer may come through a friend. Money can appear in a number of ways–not only work. A magazine can open to the right prescription or natural supplement for you. (If you’re not sure, ask for a repeat.)
  • When you can’t find the correct answer, ask the angels to clear any confusing and/or lower energy in your field. Ask for clear vision and the right answer at the right time.
  • When life feels unbearable, ask the angels to lift the weight of a problem and to make life feel lighter. You can also ask for energy to persevere.
  • Angels can clear attachments from other people and/or dark energy. Archangel Michael is known for his effectiveness with usually clearing negativity.
  • You can ask for protection for your children, car, home, income and pets. Suggestion: Put a bubble of light around all of the above each morning and night.
  • Ask for answers that come delightfully, joyously and easily. Otherwise, the angels sometimes create move very rapidly, which can feel a bit overwhelming.
  • Always thank your angels and express gratitude. It’s wonderful to have Divine help!

Astrological Weather: It’s About Balance

newearth3

The New Moon on August 25 brought unusual energy as we move into another phase of alignment. Planets  are locked in position with conflicting messages such as move forward and stand still. Mars and Saturn remain in close conjunction, begging us to take a step forward (or reflect and withdraw) while Venus squares both planets. In this position, Venus can cause scrutiny of relationships, and it’s easy to move into confrontation (or anger from the frustrating feelings.) On the positive side, we can use the energy from the conjunction and square, and the New Moon gives special qualities to rise above the fray.

Sabian Symbols give additional information about the degree of a particular aspect. The new moon falls on the degree of Virgo 3; the imagery is “two mighty angels bringing protection.”  When the astrology of a time period is challenging, people often feel alone or without resources for difficulties. This symbol reflects the gift of turning to the quantum field—the unseen world—for help and support.

A state of grace, which includes unexpected answers, insights, and strong intuition, always comes when we ask from our heart. Reaching out can mean vibrating above our current feelings to make a strong connection with the spiritual world. We have to believe the spiritual world is far stronger than our perceptions of the moment—at least when accompanied by a strong desire.

For the past several months, the planets pointed to a need for balance. The object of balance changes from one week to the next, but the true message is about centering, regardless of our feelings, and turning to the spiritual world for answers. Sometimes, this means calling on angels and guides and spending several hours in meditation.

In metaphysics, we call this “entering the garden.” An angel guards the garden with a sword and permits entry into the garden when we realize the power of our inner light.  Alignment with the soul opens the door to the sanctuary of the garden. It actually creates a state of harmony, which helps in vibrating above our problems. (It’s an odd realization, but we actually vibrate with issues and problems. When our resonance moves into a higher sphere, our interaction with “light” alters our life.)

Balance is more than entering the garden or the quantum field. We have to realize the impact of self-limiting projections and how these limitations are experienced in our life. After identifying this, it’s necessary to become willing to release these perceptions (and dream on a larger scale)–if we want the support of the unseen world. (Limitation is often the expression of our personality and the impact of childhood events. The universe asks us to take a look and let go.)

At best, we extend our spirituality into the physical world. We alter our lives to reflect our spiritual nature and change our interaction with physicality. We express our gifts. We make the time and find the rhythm to commit to our spiritual inspiration—the small, still voice.

Challenges:

  1. Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Virgo – This brings healing, feminine earth energy. It helps in grounding after the fiery light of Leo. Virgo focuses on discernment, analysis, and digestion. We’re using discernment to recreate our lives. We’re digesting our experiences to create aspects of a new life. It’s important not to become overwhelmed by detail and self-analysis. Use the information to devise a cure. Think of walking through the grass or forest and collecting herbs with similar energies to evoke harmony in the body.
  2. Mars conjunct Saturn – There’s a conflict in energy. Mars wants to rush ahead, and Saturn wants to stop and ponder. Application of the right amount of pressure is the key to working with the combined force of both planets. (Mars emphasizes force, motion, and sometimes anger. Saturn can increase perfectionism, self-doubt, and criticism.) On the positive side, magic may accompany their energies. Scorpio, when disciplined, has the power to make almost anything happen—if the energy stays focused on positive, spiritual/physical transformation.
  3. Venus in Leo, Venus square Mars and Saturn – Venus in Leo wants attention and never feels completely appreciated, particularly in aspect to Mars and Saturn. There’s also a need to receive attention along with a desire to remain the center of attention. When everyone feels this way at one time, it’s not so good. (Let it go. We can say how we feel when the energy is smoother.)
  4. Jupiter in Leo – The planet of expansion remains in Leo, and it encourages us to continue to dream and give life to our desires. Use the energy for creative projects.
  5. Overall:  don’t indulge emotion or negative thought.  Stay calm. It’s good to take extra time and see what the situation is truly reflecting. Is it limitation or frustration? If limitation, then we should think about what is truly desirable and visualize life in a new form. Create harmony, move away from explosive energy.

It’s a powerful week. On a lower level, we’ll work with conflicting feelings and a need to create harmony in relationships. There’s an emphasis on insecurities and “mistakes” from the past, which tend to require forgiveness. It’s helpful to stay present and reflect on the gift of forming a deeper spiritual nature. Since Virgo rules work, it’s also helpful to commit to the expression of our spiritual talents.  On a higher level, there is a great deal of energy for transformation and healing work—and it holds a magical, intense tone.

My Summer Reading List

oldbooks

I love to read, but I like happy endings. I also like books that lead me into greater spiritual truth and speak to my heart. On this note, I’m listing the best books of my summer reading. (Yes, I admit it. I loved my job as a librarian. It was quiet and lovely–and I could read as much as I liked. It’s still my favorite form of living vicariously.)

I intend to read more, but here are a few books from our expert summit speakers.

It’s a true story about the author’s brother. Kagan shares how he communicated spiritual concepts with her after his death. It gives a beautiful insights about the “after world.” It’s slightly sad in a few places, but uplifting and fascinating overall.

The Life Everlasting by Marie Corelli

It’s one of my favorite romance novels, and it combines spirituality, courage, and love. You’ll have to buy this one from a used book seller like Alibris.com, but it’s worth it. I’ve read it at least five times.

Healing Mantras by Thomas Ashley-Farrand

The book introduces many mantras, explains their meaning, and gives real life examples. It’s good, sensitive writing.

It’s an old one, but I’m fascinated by time travel–particularly Medieval Times. It’s not particularly spiritual, but I like the adventure.

I always read: Neville, Florence Scovel Shinn and Catherine Ponder. The principles are deep. The books are easy to read and involve shifting your consciousness.

Julia Griffin, intuitive healer and owner of One True Self, began her work fifteen years ago under the tutelage of real wolves. The wolves taught her that true energetic motion is based on the soul and patterns of nature. Following their direction, Julia sees and reads energy, including animals, plants and people. She works with people in session to find their resonance with the soul, clearing patterns and alignment with their inner path.

It’s your gift–an angel class in memory of my dear friend, Karen Stewart, who left us in late December. Karen was a professor; she wrote for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Karen gave angel readings and depicted angels in  charming folk art paintings as an expression of her personal awakening.  She was also one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.

I like to think of her singing with those beautiful beings she painted. This is her birthday week, and I think she’d like for you to have the class in her honor.
