The full Corn Moon appears on Wednesday, September 2. As the first leaves change color and grapes fall to the earth, it marks the turn of the world into the season of harvest. The forecast features a Virgo Sun and Pisces Moon, combining the mysticism of Pisces and the practicality of Virgo. In some ways, it’s perfect as many of us are feeling the call of the cosmos–the dreaminess of the universe speaking through our intuition and hearts. At the same time, we may yearn for positive expression in the physical world.
The problem with mysticism involves our interpretation through the ego, which is rarely obvious, and applying our insights in daily life. It’s one thing to understand how energy works a particular way –and an entirely different pursuit to remember to apply it on a regular basis. The first area of difficultly lies with misinterpretation; our ego has a way of wanting life to appear in a certain way—along with a willingness to misread it. Our hearts read life in a way that is crystal clear; it’s believing and acting, which construe the challenge. The combination of Virgo Sun/Pisces moon may give the opportunity to become more discerning and move more deeply into the true self.
Sun (life) trines (harmonious) Jupiter (expansion) and Uranus (sudden change, quantum field). Sun trine Jupiter denotes a sense of optimism and expansion. Sun trine Uranus expands mental and spiritual abilities such as original ideas, breakthrough thoughts and realizations, and a desire to express individuality.
Moon (emotion) in Pisces connects our consciousness to the unseen world; t opens the veil between worlds, increasing intuition. Moon conjunct (close to) Neptune (mysticism, illusion) gives greater reception to the mystical through prayer, visualization, and contemplation. It’s how we hear God, the universe, and angels. It’s the feeling received after prayer when we feel the lift after asking for help on a spiritual level.
Mercury (communication) in Virgo trines (harmonious) Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation), and Pluto (underworld). The three trines create the possibility of positive communication, strong structure, and the ability to solve mysteries and find answers (Pluto). (Virgo is an earth sign ruled by Mercury, which aids in communication.)
Venus (love, relationships) is placed in Cancer, a water sign. Venus opposes Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation) and Pluto (underworld, transformation). It’s likely that we may feel other people are acting out of sync with our loving nature. Venus squares (tension) Mars (energy, assertion). However, Venus is conjunct (close to) Neptune (mysticism, illusion), offering a way to move into higher love and align with beauty to overcome the more dissonant energies.
Mars (energy, male) remains in Aries, a fire sign, which pushes us into action. (Mars will move into retrograde in mid-September, and it can make life feel frustrating. Use this time to work on calm emotions.) Mars squares Saturn (limitation, karma) and Pluto (collective energies, transformation), and we may feel that it takes a big push on our part to take the next step or pursue the right action.
Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) is direct. When Jupiter in Capricorn moves out of retrograde, it expands our drive to succeed and move in the direction of our goals. It’s also supportive on the path of light. (The caution involves realism in relationship to our goals, practicality, and wise, balanced use of money and growth.) Jupiter trines Uranus (quantum field, sudden change) gives insights when combining the new and old aspects of life.
The conjunctions, associated with COVID and changes in the outer world, involve Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto. They will continue throughout the year.
- The chart helps in experiencing the mystical side of the self in physical reality. We receive energy for orderliness and clear thought of Virgo as well as the spiritual insights of Pisces. Sun trines Jupiter (good fortune) and Uranus (sudden change, quantum change), which helps with optimism and receiving new thoughts and answers.
- Sun (life) and Mercury (communications) oppose Neptune (mysticism/illusion). With this aspect, it’s important to check intuitions twice before taking action because our communication from the unseen world is not always clear.
- The power of writing, speaking and communicating is heightened through Mercury’s trines with Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation), and Pluto (underworld, transformation).
- We may feel out of sync with our loved ones as Venus opposes Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation), and Pluto (underworld, transformation) It’s wise to focus on universal, unconditional—and know the aspects are like a passing storm.
- Squares with Mars (energy, male) may make life feel frustrating—or push us into action in the achievement of individual goals.
Sabian Symbols, based on the work of Lynda Hill
Sun is on Virgo 11, “A Boy Molded in His Mother’s Aspirations for Him”. Direction and shaping in childhood can act as a two edged-sword. Our character can be altered through discipline, experience, and perseverance, which can enhance and/or detract on the spiritual path. Sometimes, personal potential is enhanced by parents and authority figures. It can also bring confusion about who we truly are. Virgo rules mental discernment, and the oracle asks that we review our memories and find the truth of our childhood for ourselves.
Moon is placed on Pisces 11, “Men Traveling A Narrow Path, Seeking Illumination.” The symbol generates an image of the spiritual path, which is wide in the beginning of the journey but narrows near the top. In this chart, Moon (emotions) conjuncts Neptune (mysticism, illusion), indicating vision and direction for those who seek a higher path.
Mercury sits on Virgo 25, “A Flag at Half-Mast in Front of a Public Building”. The imagery refers to the expression of grief and loss for accomplishment and achievement for someone or a cause. Positive appraisal and loss are expressed as a public gesture.
Venus is on Cancer 26, “Guests Are Reading in the Library of a Luxurious Home”. Venus represents love, beauty, and resources. Perhaps, the symbol asks us to take time for self-care, quiet, and relaxation, which is an expression of self-love.
Mars sits on Aries 28, “A Large Disappointed Audience”. Mars is overall energy and assertion, and the large, disappointed audience may refer to the feelings of group consciousness, particularly in response to this particular time. (We may have planned a beautiful year, but everyone feels slightly frustrated with the current circumstances.)
Jupiter is on Capricorn 18, “A General Accepting Defeat Gracefully.” It’s an interesting symbol for Jupiter, which represents expansion and good fortune. However, acceptance of outcomes in life can open our consciousness to new possibilities as well as creating character.(Perhaps, it refers to the energy of this year, which is very different from our expectations.)
