Full Moon Forecast: Intensity and Change

The Full Moon appears on Thursday, January 28 with erratic, intense energy. An emphasis on Uranian (and Aquarian) energy indicates “certain” change, which could include awakening, difficulties, or a change in the direction of life. On a personal level, it can reflect the placement of higher consciousness and/or subconscious desires and thoughts. (The energies remain throughout February, but they are at their height during the full moon.)

The full moon chart tends to exacerbate tension, anger, stubbornness, and a fixed mind. Conversely, there are beautiful qualities that can open consciousness to the soul and reveal the power of love in creating personal/global transformation. It’s important to comprehend both sides of the equation.

There are many aspects in the chart with Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) in Taurus, an earth sign, which symbolizes the beauty of the spring and a time of growth—as well as conflicting energies from planets in Aquarius throughout February.  What does it mean?

Aquarius is symbolized as a star man or woman pouring water from a pitcher on the earth. In metaphysics, water is love, the stars represent the universe, and it’s partially about how an individual’s state of universal affects and helps the planet. Love rules the element of fire; it elevates passion and connects with the heart. The element of earth is missing from the glyph. (Alchemy teaches us to pay attention to missing elements in a symbolic message.)

When many planets in Aquarius square Uranus, which is placed in earth, they contact the element and deliver a message. Humanitarian ideals and higher thoughts are fabulous, but they must have a connection with the earth. After expressing an idea, it needs to take form in matter (earth) in a harmonious way. (The earth is our mother, who nourishes us, transmutes negative energy, and creates beauty in physical form.) It may also act as indication of the need to reconnect with earth on a collective level.

Sun (life), Mercury (communication), Jupiter (expansion), and Saturn (karma, limitation) are placed in Aquarius. The sign of Aquarius is associated with the group mind and understanding how an individual’s energy and thoughts relate to the whole of humanity. It’s associated with spontaneity, unpredictability, and visionary qualities. Ruled by air, it encompasses higher thought and action.

Sun (life) square Uranus (sudden change) often feels like a period of uncertainty It can heighten the ego. It tends to bring period of unpredictable changes. It can also open the consciousness to the richness of the inner self and present opportunities for growth. There may be an urge to do things differently or find one’s own way of moving through life.

Sun (life) conjunct Jupiter (expansion) is a very lovely aspect. It brings optimism, energy, and positive energy into our lives. It’s often a time of receiving approval from others in our lives—and the universe. It expands Self-confidence, assertion, good luck, and heightens aspirations. The aspect also opens our mind to humanitarian issues and growth. However, it’s important to remember that expansion and optimism can also lead to indulgence in spending, eating, and pushing too hard/too fast with decision making and goals. Sun (life) conjunct Saturn (limitation) is somewhat the opposite. It is limiting and can inhibit positive emotion and self-esteem. It can also increase introversion

Moon (emotions) square Mars (assertion, male) heightens emotions and passion as well as stubbornness and the need to compete. It’s a good aspect—if we remember to use good judgement and think about other people and/or outcomes. (Feeling stubborn is not all bad. Sometimes, it’s needed to stay on the spiritual path.) Moon (emotion) square Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) brings increased, erratic emotion along with a desire for new experiences. Heightened and unstable emotion can obviously lead to conflict. It’s important to remember new experiences can be simple ones in the time of COVID—a drive to a new park, a long drive to a beautiful place, or a wonderful take-out meal.

Moon (emotion) opposes Jupiter (expansion). Jupiter can expand emotional connections and help with expression. The aspect can also cause extravagance. Moon in opposition to Saturn (limitation, karma) can cause inhibition and the desire to withdraw from life.

Mercury (communications, mind) will move into retrograde on January 30. It will likely feel intense because of its placement in an air sign. Mercury rules air, many planets are in an air sign, and Mercury will move in the opposite direction of those planets. It is a time to refrain from action, and it may give time for rest and review.

Venus (love, partnerships) is placed in Capricorn, an earth sign. Venus conjuncts (close to) Saturn inhibits expression of love and can give the need to withdraw from friends and family. Venus conjunct Pluto (underworld, transformation) can expand obsessive or jealous feelings.  However, it can teach about the potential of moving so deeply into love (and universal love) that we find a pathway for transformation on a personal and soul level.

Mars (action, male) in Aquarius continues with its wild ways.  It stirs up anger, tension, and frustration. Mars squares Jupiter (expansion), brings increased energy and the desire to succeed. It can also cause impulsiveness, which causes incorrect action. Mars square Saturn (limitation, karma) can cause frustration and anger. (It’s helpful to focus on the inner self, discipline, and patience.) Mars conjunct (close to) Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) often brings sudden, unexpected change; it can also ignite anger and frustration into negative action.

Jupiter (expansion) and Saturn (limitation) conjunct (close to) Uranus, which can create additional change, particularly when many other planets are in aspect with it. Expect the unexpected and stay centered and aligned is the best advice for this moment in time.

Saturn (limitation, karma) is moving away from its conjunction with Pluto (underworld, transformation), which should help in decreasing the cases of the world pandemic—or allow solutions to become more available as time passes.

Here are a few tips.

  • Many aspects in the chart are contradictory such as Sun conjunct Jupiter, which creates expansion and optimism, and Sun conjunct Saturn, which expands a need to withdraw and amplifies inhibited feelings. On the path of the soul, we travel through many similar contradictions in our personal nature. It’s simply another way of learning to address two opposites at various times.
  • Many aspects with Uranus can lead to greater consciousness or the confusion of change, based on fixed ideas and insistence on being “right”. It’s important to stay flexible and use the aspects as an opportunity to explore close mindedness. There’s also a wonderful opportunity to move into greater discovery of the universe and its principles.
  • Venus (love) conjunct Pluto (underworld, transformation) offers an opportunity to move into cosmic love on a deeper level.
  • Mercury (thought, mind) moves into retrograde on January 30, and it will likely affect electronic devices—and add to the current sense of chaos.
  • Uranus in Taurus indicate a need to focus on the earth and find a greater connection with her energy. Also, the earth provides stability and grounding for the body when we cannot find it in the collective energies. Stay calm and centered.
  • Mars (action, male) is somewhat like a crazy warrior without a cause. It’s angry, frustrated, and wants to strike out. However, we’ve evolving—and (maybe) we know better.
  • With many planets in Aquarius, it’s a good time to open the mind to humanitarian values and ponder a better future. Aquarius provides new, innovative ideas with a touch of genius.

New Moon Forecast: Intense Weather

The New Moon appears on Friday, October 16 at 3:31 pm. The New Moon brings a brief period of quiet and stillness. In the darkness, the stars sing in the velvet night. During the day, the natural world is particularly beautiful with Sun and Moon in Libra, an air sign ruled by Venus.  Libra brings balance, harmony, creativity, and an emphasis on relationships.

This chart brings lovely influences, which can carry us through the more challenging ones. Venus (love, beauty) forms a trine with Jupiter (expansion) and Uranus (sudden change, quantum field.) The message is direct. It’s possible to align with the heart and move into unconditional love, which leads to expansion and good fortune (Jupiter). In this place of expansion, we can attune to the higher messages of the quantum field. (The quantum field is the place of angels and miracles where we receive visions of what life can become—which is often distinctly different from the laws of physicality. It’s where our souls get a boost from universal energies.)

Venus (love, beauty, relationships) in Virgo, an earth sign ruling hygiene, healing, and order, trines Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation, karma), Uranus (sudden change) and Pluto (transformation). The large number of trines suggest potential answers are found in reflecting on love and using our creative energy to focus on beauty, expression, and insights that come from the heart. Venus opposes Neptune (mysticism, illusion), which may reveal illusions about love and life.

On October 17, the Sun and the star, Arcturus, move into their annual alignment. It’s said that we receive new energies of light and insights to move beyond frustration and doubt into greater love and understanding. Again, we have to open to it as light codes initially feel overwhelming, but it’s how we evolve.

Light codes are waves of energy, which enhance Intuition and perception; they also open our minds to universal truth.  It takes time to accurately interpret new information, so meditate on insights and consider the time and reflection needed for adequate assimilation.

Challenging Aspects

Many aspects intensify the forecast for the next 3 weeks. On another level, energy is energy. It’s more about what we do with it than how it feels.

Sun and Moon square (tension) Mars (energy), Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation, karma) and Pluto (underworld, transformation). The planets form T-square that creates pressure, amplifying the feeling of limitation, which has occurred in 2020. On the positive, we can rewrite the limitations on life (Sun), moon (emotions) from Mars and the other planets. We can use our time and energy (Mars) to expand practices such as meditation, exercise, and creativity. We can find strength and discipline in limitation (Saturn) and transform our lives (Pluto).

Mercury (communications) is retrograde until November 3, which slows movement, confuses time and thought, and affects electronics. Mercury in Scorpio reveals underlying truths, but they may be difficult to decipher until Mercury moves direct. Mercury opposes Uranus (sudden change, quantum field), and it can lead us to greater truths or confusing reads on the surface of current reality. Mercury trines (harmonious) Neptune (illusion/mysticism, which opens our consciousness to messages from the Divine.

Mars (overall energy, action) is also retrograde in Aries, which can bring the desire to act without the energy to do so—or a very strong desire, which is aligned with the ego and not the inner self. It can feel frustrating and upsetting, or it can reveal what we truly want in life. Mars squares Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation), and Pluto (underworld, transformation). The aspect brings tension, a desire to act, tension, and agitation. It also accelerates the desire and need for action and change.

Jupiter (expansion) in Capricorn trines Uranus (sudden change, quantum field), and it helps in having strength to move through uncertainty. The aspect increases creative genius, new solutions, and unconventional answers.

Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation), and Pluto (underworld, transformation) remain in conjunction, and the aspects, which began in early 2020, continue through this placement. On the positive, Pluto takes us down deep to find resources and unknown aspects of the self and life for personal transformation.

Tips

  • It is a challenging chart with aspects that can cause tension, emotional responses, or anxiety. However, there are also beautiful and encouraging aspects with Venus, which open the heart and lift our spirit.
  • Mercury (communication) is retrograde. Stay with current plans, review thoughts and feelings, and rest when possible.
  • Mars in retrograde can create the build-up of tension and a desire to act quickly or impulsively. Stay on track and move evenly through life.
  • Jupiter’s trine with Uranus can help in finding new solutions to problems and gives strength.
  • There are aspects in the chart, which will help in finding calm and focus, but it takes work to create results. Meditate, visualize, and focus whenever possible.

Sabian Symbols, based on the work of Lynda Hill

Sabian symbols depict the energy of a sign and its degree.

Sun and Moon are on Libra 24, “A Third Wing on the Left Side of a Butterfly” indicates imbalance and awkwardness in our personal lives and emotions. Certainly, everyone is thrown a bit off balance in the current waves of life.

Mercury is placed on Scorpio 12, “A Brilliant Assembly of Dignitaries at an Official Embassy Ball”. The symbol can (accurately) point to political planning, ethics and manners, and diplomatic standoffs.

Venus sits on Virgo 17, “A Volcanic Eruption Bringing Dust Clouds, Flowing Lava, and Earth Rumblings”. It could refer the build-up of emotional energy over many months—or life changing events. It indicates a need for release of emotion and expression of anger.

Mars is on Aries 21, “A Boxer Entering the Ring”. With Mars in retrograde, the symbol may refer to our need to make changes, express self-assertion, or determination. It’s also about using power in a positive sense for personal expression as opposed to aggression.

Jupiter sits on Capricorn 20, “A Hidden Choir Singing During a Religious Service”. It’s a depiction of spiritual music and energy, which uplifts the congregation or listeners. It can refer to the universal voice that is unseen but speaks to the soul.
