Solar eclipses always fall on the New Moon when the Sun/Moon are placed in the same sign. A New Moon solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and Earth. A new moon is not directly visible from Earth, as the moon’s side facing us is completely unlit.
Eclipses slip from light to darkness before the light returns. Think of the electricity powering up and down. For a moment, there is stillness, the absence of light and the hum of electronics. When the power returns, and all is as it was. (Eclipses tend to bring about similar experiences from 19 years ago.) Eclipse exert their influence for about 35 days after the event. It’s helpful to meditate, stay still, and focus on the heart, the powerful place that we find answers and intuition. Follow it with a visualization of a desirable future.
The eclipse precedes the New Moon, which appears at 3:54 pm ET. It’s a powerful chart with oppositions and trines with the Sun (life), Moon (emotion) and Mercury (mind), meaning that everyone will feel this eclipse on a personal level. Oppositions with Saturn ask for reassessment of the self and discipline; oppositions with Neptune ask for seeing beyond illusion and lies. Trines with Uranus and Pluto give the strength to accomplish both tasks.
Sun (light, the self, life) and Moon (emotions) are in the same degree of Virgo, the sign of the Virgin and The High Priestess on a higher level. Virgo energy is about energy on the practical level – of putting things in order, efficiency, and life on the planet. On the higher level, it is about living in accordance with understanding spiritual laws.
Mercury (communication) is in Virgo, aiding with articulation and expression of words. Sun, Moon, and Mercury are in opposition with Saturn (karma, time). With any opposition, we may feel two ways at one time or move back and forth between polarization. Sun opposition Saturn indicates a lack of confidence or a need for confidence; it can also ask for more discipline with routine and structure. Moon opposition Saturn (limitation) can intensify emotion, bring awareness of emotional pain, but it also brings the opportunity to greater understand the self and emotional health. Mercury opposition Saturn (limitation) brings a need for clarity and serious thinking, and it aids with this expression.
Sun opposition Neptune (illusion, mysticism) heightens intuition and gives vivid dreams, but it also increases the odds for deception and escapism. Moon opposition Neptune increases emotional sensitivity and confusion. Mercury opposition Neptune can cause confusion with intuitive discernment, but it can also give insights through dreams and receiving messages through the subconscious while dreaming.
Sun trine Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) brings sudden positive shifts and invites us to communicate more with the inner self. Moon trine Uranus brings positive emotions and encourages breaking through past emotional patterns. Mercury trine Uranus opens the mind to new and positive ideas.
Sun (life), Moon (emotion), and Mercury (communication) trine Pluto (subconscious, transformation). Sun trine Pluto gives power, passion, and strength to overcome limitations. Moon trine Pluto deepens emotional intensity and helps with healing trauma as well as understanding with personal emotion. Mercury trine Pluto heightens the ability to communicate, write, or speak; it also helps with achieving goals.
Venus (abundance, relationships, art) in Virgo is interested in the practical aspect of relationships. It increases the need for criticism and order. Venus sextiles Mars (male, assertion), creating balance between the two sides of the self and the opposite sex. Venus square Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) may cause erratic emotions; they will come and go.
Mars (assertion, male) in Libra has difficulty with choices and decisions. It wants balance, and it can’t decide the best path to take. Mars squares Pluto (underworld, transformation) intensifies feelings of power, control, anger, and desire. (Mars/Pluto aspects often refer to events in outer world )
Jupiter is in Cancer, placing our attention on the home and domestic matters. Jupiter (expansion) trine Saturn increases personal power in life and positively affects success. Jupiter trine Neptune (illusion, mysticism) encourages hope, generosity, and community spirit.
Saturn (limitation, karma) is retrograde in Pisces, moving back into karmic play from the last Age. Saturn conjuncts Neptune (mysticism, illusion), combining hope, trust, and hard realism. It’s important to see the truth beneath the media and polarity. Part of hope is faith, and truth is found in the heart. We can have both faith and hope by listening to the heart.
Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) is in Gemini, pushing electronics, AI, and space travel. Neptune (mysticism, illusion) is on the first degree of Aries as it moves in retrograde into Pisces. Pluto (underworld, transformation) sits on the first degree of Aquarius, retrograding back into Capricorn in the coming days.
