March opens with a dramatic lunar eclipse with a Red Full Moon, which appearing on March 3 from 6:04 to 7:02 am ET. This moon is known as the Worm Moon because earthworms come to the surface of the warming earth, and it’s alternately known as the Wind Strong Moon.

During a total lunar eclipse, Earth sits between the sun and the moon, and the only light that reaches the moon is filtered through our atmosphere. Every sunrise and sunset on the planet bends at once, staining it copper, displaying what is known as a Blood Moon.

The red glow has been unsettling to many for thousands of years. The Inca believed a jaguar was attacking the moon. In ancient Mesopotamia, a blood moon was seen as an omen for kings. Some Native American tribes saw it as a time of renewal, the moon shedding and returning.

The chart and lunar eclipse give clarity about releasing, dissolving, and returning. The lunar eclipse aligns with the south node, which indicates personal problems, patterns, karma, and challenges in life. Essentially, they are subconscious, acting as saboteurs in life. As with all darkness and upset, awareness of patterns is helpful as is sending light or healing to the part of the self that experiences pain. Saturn in Pisces asks for a new structure, a new way of being, in life, which requires discipline and focus.

There are several aspects that are influential in the chart, including Mercury retrograde, Mars square Uranus, and Saturn conjunct Uranus. They are included in the forecast.

Sun (light, love) is placed in Pisces, symbolized by two fishes swimming in different directions. Pisces was the ruler of the past Age, and it holds the energy of mysticism, confusion, intelligence, and sacrifice. Sun, Mercury (communication), Venus (love, relationships) and Mars (assertion, force) are placed in Pisces. Five planets in water (Jupiter in Cancer) create strong emotions and odd currents of energy which align our consciousness with a beautiful flow or the wild energy of undisciplined feelings.  Sun conjuncts Mercury (communication), aligning the self and the mind. Sun trine Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) brings good luck and confidence.

Moon is in Virgo, an earth sign that rules order, perfectionism, and service to others. It also rules discernment and asks for a glance at personal control issues. Moon opposes Mercury (communication), causing intermittent periods of strong emotions and conflicting thoughts.  Moon sextile Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) brings good fortune, confidence, and ease in sharing emotions.

Mercury (communications, electronics) is retrograde in Pisces, adding to the floating feelings, the lack of certainty, and the birth of artistic ideas. (Retrogrades tend to become more difficult when placed in a water sign as our emotions attract positive or negative energy, depending on the placement of consciousness.) Mercury retrograde often involves hearing from people from the past, confusion, and a slowing of communications and travel. When Mercury is retrograde, it’s important to read messages more than once, ask for clarity, review projects that need completion, and take extra time for travel and tasks. Mercury retro continues until March 20.

Venus (love, art, relationships) is exalted in Pisces, encouraging romantic love, artistic endeavors, compassion, and dreaminess. Venus conjunct Saturn (karma, structure) asks for review of relationships and finances.  Venus sextile Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) encourages creating new views and perception of life. Venus conjunct Neptune (illusion, mysticism) asks for artistic insights and creative work. It may also cause laziness or procrastination, but it’s important to push through it!

Mars (assertion, male energy) in Pisces lowers overall energy. It can incite creativity and heighten intuition. On the negative, it may cause passive aggressive behavior. Mars squares Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) can cause impulsiveness, erratic behavior, and willfulness. In short, it can create conflict within the self or the outer world. This can cause sudden, disruptive events.

Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) sits in Cancer, which rules nurturing, financial security, and family life. We can imagine and expand whatever is needed in our home life.

Saturn (limitation, karma) in Aries marks a two-year transit, focusing on self-discipline, active change, and personal accountability. Saturn sextile Neptune (illusion, mysticism) encourages devotion to long-range plans and imaginative, inventive change. Saturn sextile Pluto (subconscious, transformation) wants disciplined, patient changes, and Pluto asks for leaving outdated dreams and beliefs with transformation into a format that aligns well with the inner self.

Saturn and Neptune (illusion, mysticism) remain conjunct, which compels us to combine our dreams, hopes, and goals with discipline and strength.

Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) in Taurus can cause changes in the earth such as earthquakes, weather alterations, and much more. It also speaks about our concern for the earth and our connection with nature.

Uranus, Neptune (illusion, mysticism), and Pluto (subconscious, transformation) form harmonious angles that help with spiritual growth and awakening.
