The New Moon appeared in the night sky on Monday, February 20 at 2:05 a.m. The New Moon is the time of the void, the turning of the lunar tides, and stillness within nature. (If one gardens with astrological signs, nothing will grow—despite the fertility of the sign—for a month if planted on the New Moon.) In recent months, the New Moon continues as a time of quiet and harmonious charts, a resting place between the rapidly changing outer world and the rhythm of the inner world. This chart has relatively few aspects, and the sign of water (emotion) dominants the chart.
Sun (life), Moon (emotions), Venus (love, relationships), and Neptune (mysticism, illusion) are placed in Pisces, the feminine sign of fishes swimming in different directions. Pisces rules the sea of emotion, which leads to bliss, love, and chaos. (Love and mystical intuition come from surrender to the Divine. Chaos comes from conflicting emotions or thoughts.)
Pisces is the last of the twelve astrological signs, representing the wisdom of lessons learned in past lives and karmic debt. Part of the lesson involves flowing with universe for knowledge, understanding, and higher emotion. Follow higher feelings, visualize the desired change, and plan to create change in life. Use the energy!
Sun (life) conjunct Saturn (karma, time) tends to act as a dark cloud that temporarily blocks the light of the Sun. We may feel briefly depressed or heavy, but we can always work to lift our feelings. Saturn is the taskmaster, which asks for structure, discipline, and actions that align life with the inner self. (Mastery comes from repetition and discipline.) It also increases discipline, focus, and desire for success.
Moon conjunct Saturn often brings challenges with has a home life and relationships. It tends to make disputes and lack of harmony feel worse than they truly are. It can make misunderstandings feel difficult and overwhelming. However, it’s possible to see the best in the other person and the possibility of a positive outcome by changing our perception and calming our emotions.
Mercury rules communications, electronics, and the mind, and it sits in Gemini, stimulating the mind and versatility of thought. Mercury trine Mars (action, male) delivers focus, direction, and the desire to achieve our objective. Mercury sextile Jupiter (expansion) increases a positive attitude and feeling—particularly when planning the future. Mercury square Neptune (mysticism, illusion) confuses the circuit between the logical mind and imagination. It distorts clarity with discussions and decisions.
Venus (love, beauty, female) is exalted in Pisces, exuding a spiritual, flowing love, which is experienced in higher meditation. The aspect heightens creativity, sensitivity, and compassion. Venus sextile Pluto (underworld, transformation) aids with fulfilling desires, deepening love and intensity, and the power to magnetize beauty, love, and abundance.
Mars (assertion, action, male) is placed in Gemini as it has been for many months. Mars in Gemini stimulates too many thoughts and ideas, which confuse our attempts at directed action. It lacks focus and chases various thoughts, however, it’s also an opportunity to use the will to achieve our desires and goals. Mars sextiles Jupiter (expansion) gives strength, courage, and inspired action. Mars square Neptune (mysticism, illusion) has a hazy, scattered energy, which causes fluctuations and delays with plans.
Jupiter in Aries (expansion, good fortune) asks for greater understanding of our potential as individuals and expanding as a result. It helps in seeing opportunities for expansion and gaining knowledge by moving through problems and limitations.
Saturn (discipline, karma) cruises into Pisces on March 7, marking a period of examining illusion, media, and other forces, which are influential with global consciousness. It will ask us to think about our dreams, illusions, and connections with the outer world. Saturn holds a great deal of emotional energy, which can pull us up into higher transformation or leave us feeling lost.
Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) in Taurus asks about our current involvement with electronics and modern advancement—and how it affects the earth. We should examine possibilities such as free or cost effective energy, solar and geothermal power, and use our minds/hearts to dream up a world in harmony with nature.
Neptune (mysticism, illusion) in Pisces affects humanity with dreams of beauty, spiritualism, and illusion. It heightens confusion and disillusionment, but it can also empower the higher dreams of humanity—particularly when we come together through the heart. Neptune in Pisces is also associated with the rising of the sea. Pluto (underworld, transformation) in Capricorn reveals flaws in the structures of global industries, politics, and beliefs.
