The Full Hunter’s Moon appeared on October 17th at 7:26 am ET. The Hunter’s Moon rises lower on the horizon, sometimes reflecting the rays of dusk sunlight and making the moon appear orange or red. It also rises earlier because of its placement on the horizon, which helped indigenous people with their hunting and the collection of meat for the cold winter.
It’s a super moon with somewhat chaotic energies, which indicates a need for stillness, peace, and connection with the inner self. By moving into this space, we can use the active energies for personal evolution and growth. (The Tsuchinshan-Atlas comet aligns with Chiron, the wounded healer, and it helps with overcoming/understanding the past by moving us into deeper healing.)
Sun (life) is in Libra, the sign of beauty and balance, and Moon (emotion) is in Aries, a fiery sign that prefers new beginnings. With Moon in Aries, it’s an excellent time to act on projects that resonate with the heart and inner growth. Aries encourages motion, creativity, and new ideas.
As we move past the eclipse season, it’s a time of reconfiguring our past into a new format. It’s also important to remember that the stars impel or influence our lives, but they do not compel. We can choose to open to the more harmonious aspects or limit our growth by dwelling on the negative.
Sun (life) trine Jupiter (good fortune, expansion) encourages growth with a sense of optimism, and it offers new opportunities. Moon (emotion) sextile Jupiter (good fortune, expansion) gives cheerfulness, kindness, and deepens friendships and love.
We’ll need the qualities of Jupiter to work with other aspects of the chart. Sun (life), Moon (emotion), Mars (action), and Pluto (underworld, transformation) are in a Grand Cross, which can feel like sitting at a 4 way stop sign when no one will move or being pulled in 4 directions at one time. A Grand Cross exerts pressure and asks for meaningful change, but we must know where we want to change and choose a direction. (If the pressure seems intense, meditate and reflect on peace. Detach from the feelings. Trust the universe to take you to the right place.)
Sun (life) and Moon (emotion) square Mars (assertion, male) may cause us to defend our beliefs or work. Mars is composed of “hot” energy, and it can cause arguments, a feeling of resentment, or frustration. With Moon square Mars, it’s important to show compassion when others share problems and to stay calm by not expressing feelings of irritation and/or upset.
Sun (life), Moon (emotion), and Mercury (thought) square Pluto (subconscious, transformation). Obviously, it brings subconscious thoughts and patterns to the surface. It’s not uncommon to have old patterns resurface, and it’s important to send light to them, to remember our tools, and to imagine transcending them. Moon square Pluto may feel like an emotional rollercoaster—one minute we feel fine and the next minute we’re upset about a small problem or glitch. (Pull back into yourself and use your inner power to move on.)
Mercury (communication) in Scorpio is intense, emotional, and intuitive. Mercury trines Saturn (limitation, karma), allowing integration of lessons learned in the past. Mercury square Pluto involves strange mental dynamics that involve power struggles. It’s important to use diplomacy and to resist trying to control situations and outcomes.
Venus (love, relationships, beauty) is in Scorpio, an intense, emotional placement. Venus trines Mars (action, male), bringing harmony and resolving duality as well as improving male/female relationships. Venus opposes Uranus (sudden change, quantum field), creating the desire for independence and emotional responses in relationships. Venus trine Neptune (idealism, mysticism) heightens artistic ability, creativity, and sensitivity.
Mars (action, male) trines Saturn (limitation, karma), which gives practical skills with projects. Mars trine Neptune (idealism, mysticism) encourages creativity, new artistic ideas, and new forms of self-expression. Mars (action) opposes Pluto, bringing a huge change in how we express desires and anger. (Let’s use our skills and think before we speak.)
Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) square Saturn (karma, limitation) and asks for us to release the past by recreating a version of the self that easily walks through the future. Jupiter square Neptune (mysticism, illusion) encourages releasing illusions from the past through a clear vision.
Other aspects exist in the chart, but it’s best to seek harmony and peace through meditation and by working on projects close to our heart. When we find harmony within the self, life moves into the flow where higher vibrations guide life.
