The moon received its name from the howling of wolves, which was loudest during the cold time of winter. The full super moon appeared at 5:03 am on Saturday, January 3. This moon asks for review of our expectations of love/relationships and the value of work completed with intention and focus. The moon’s influence will remain with us for the next two weeks.
Sun (life, light) is in Capricorn, symbolized by the goat, placing our attention on the importance of the earth. In alchemy, the earth is the place of manifestation—where dreams come into being via physical form. The word “earth” is an anagram for the heart. When we combine our dreams with wisdom and love from the heart, our desires take form in a beautiful way. The earth holds many mysteries and truths if we’re willing to watch, observe, or ask for help.
Moon (emotion) is placed in Cancer, the water sign ruling the sea, home, and children. It adds nurturing and love to the astrological mix. As the earth lies brown and cold, we can imagine the seeds of love, the beauty of home, and the skill to ascend heights as hidden treasures in the sleeping earth.
Sun conjuncts Venus (love, relationships) and Mars (action), which are in Capricorn. Conjunctions amplify the energy formed by angles between planets. We may feel the desire for self-expression, a need to express love in another or new way, or a longing to take action to create sustainable change. Sun opposition Jupiter (expansion, growth) can bring growth and success if we remain humble and avoid extravagance.
Moon opposes Venus (love, relationships), increasing the desire for companionship and love, but it also increases needs and expectations. Moon opposition Mars (energy, action) heightens aggression, anger, and irritability. It’s possible to channel excessive energy through exercise or work. Moon conjunct Jupiter (expansion, growth) brings optimism, happiness, and good fortune. It particularly favors projects based on good, heartfelt intentions.
Mercury (communication) in Capricorn is practical and wise. Mercury squares Neptune (mysticism, illusion), which is like driving through fog or a cloud when in the mountains. It’s difficult to see the road, but we can feel our way through our senses and intuition. In short, it’s not easy to find the truth through the mind. Fortunately, we have other means of accurate perception.
Venus (love, relationships) is in Capricorn. Venus conjunct Mars (energy, assertiveness) creates balance and harmony between the sexes. Venus opposition Jupiter (expansion, growth) increases the need for self-indulgence, parties, socialization, and laziness. A firm intent is needed to focus on important work and similar aspects of life.
Mars (action, assertiveness) is in Capricorn, asking for discipline with business and physical aspects of life. Mars opposes Jupiter (expansion, growth), which increases self-confidence and the desire to win. This transit supports those who remain humble, patient, and focused.
Jupiter (expansion, growth) encourages a focus on home life, children, and domestic activities, which may include review and consideration. Jupiter trine Saturn (limitation, karma) helps in creating sustained effort for positive changes. It’s important to exchange daydreams and diversions for work, which will aid in a positive outcome. Jupiter trine Neptune (mysticism, illusion) gives a period of spiritual expansion and creative projects. (It can aid in moving escapism and unrealistic goals.)
Saturn (karma, limitation) sits in Pisces, the ruler of the Past Age. Saturn and Neptune (mysticism, illusion) are conjunct, which is said to mark a turning point in consciousness. It’s possible that it can denote a serious and positive change—or insecurity, confusion, and doubt.
Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) is in Taurus, an earth sign. In this sign, it acts as a grounding force, and it is perhaps related to the recent earth changes.
Uranus (change), Neptune (mysticism), and Pluto (transformation) form a beautiful, magical triangle, thought to be a door to spirituality. It includes the opportunity to move more deeply into mystical understanding and the beauty of the inner self.
