As the last sliver of the moon dissipates, the New Moon appears on Monday, May 26 at 11:02 pm ET. The New Moon is a time of limited activity when the world briefly stands still. It’s wise to travel inward and focus on introspection and reflection.
It’s a very special New Moon, poised exactly between the old and new worlds. New Moons are about renewal, new beginnings, and seeing the world from a different perspective, but this New Moon is also about choosing wisely between the outer and inner self.
By choosing the inner self, we awaken, feel the world sharply, and hear nature more clearly. Our intuition and drive to express desires of the heart strengthens—particularly as we express the yearnings and thoughts of the inner self (or the soul). It takes courage and vulnerability—and awakening from the slumber of the outer world to move in the direction of our dreams.
Sun (life) and Moon (emotion) are in Gemini, the sign of the twins, encouraging communication, teaching, writing, speaking, socializing, and versatility. It concerns both mind and thought, particularly discernment between lower and higher thought–and the new moon favors clear communication and resolution of misunderstandings. Sun/Moon sit on Gemini 7 with the Sabian symbol of “A Well with Bucket and Rope under Majestic Trees”, which refers to the resources of nature and qualities such as renewal, nourishment, and rejuvenation.
Sun (life), Moon (emotion), and Mercury (communication) in Gemini sextile Saturn (limitation, karma), expanding self-discipline and determination. Sun, Moon, and Mercury conjunct Uranus, which indicates a time of rebellion, excitement, unexpected events, and a desire for greater freedom. Sun, Moon, and Mercury sextile Neptune (mysticism, illusion), emphasizing creativity, imagination, and sensitivity. Sun, Moon, and Mercury trine Pluto (subconscious, transformation) gives intensity, strength, and power. In short, Sun, Moon, and Mercury are empowered by their placement.
Venus (love, art, relationships) is placed in Aries, a passionate fire sign. A very positive trine is formed between Venus and Mars (overall energy, assertion). The trine tends to create harmony in relationships as well as balance between the yin/yang aspects of the self.
Mars (overall energy, assertion) is placed in Leo, a fire sign. Mars in Leo loves bold action and speaking/acting from the heart. Mars square Uranus (unexpected change, quantum field) is focused on freedom, taking risks or acting courageously to create freedom in life, and originality. On the dark side, the square can also cause frustration, challenges, and unexpected or sudden changes. (Fortunately, the aspect is subsiding and becoming less intense.)
Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) is placed in Gemini, expanding the desire for communications on all levels. Jupiter square Saturn (karma, limitation) causes tension with plans and goals; it asks for rethinking the patterns and goals that compose our lives. It may take the form of establishing or acting to reach a goal in a new way, or it may refer to the need to alter the themes and patterns of personal life. It’s a time of limitation and new possibilities. Jupiter square Neptune (illusion, mysticism) intensifies the quality and fabric of our dreams. It asks for the perception of sensing the time and discipline of the actions placed on our work—and it heightens the level of frustration between our desires and the necessity of working to bring them into a realistic form in the outer world.
Saturn (limitation, karma) sextiles Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) gives increased enthusiasm and patience with tasks, and the connection with Uranus heightens inventiveness and new approaches to work. Saturn conjunct Neptune (illusion, mysticism) continues into September, and it involves challenging existent structures and a reevaluation of leadership.
Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) in Taurus concerns all aspects of the earth including earth changes and the changes that the world makes to the earth. Uranus sextile Neptune (illusion, mysticism) exudes spiritual energy for awakening and heightens dreams and perceptions. Uranus trine Pluto (subconscious, transformation) brings the desire for beneficial freedom.
Neptune (illusion, mysticism) is placed in Aries, and it marks an end to the free floating, dreamy qualities of Pisces. Neptune in Aries asks for a point of arrival for the future along with a push and a strong desire. Neptune sextile Pluto (subconscious, transformation) gives the desire to view life from a higher perspective that involves spiritual development.
Pluto (subconscious, transformation) is placed in Aquarius, which concerns space travel, electronic communication, and, in the past, it spoke of rebellion of limiting political structures and the desire for greater independence and autonomy.
