Lady Midnight by Christian Schloe

The New Moon appeared on June 25 at 6:31 am, marking the beginning of the 29.5 day lunar cycle, a time for reflection and focusing on hopes and dreams. Rumi said, “A New Moon teaches gradualness and deliberation and how one gives birth to oneself slowly. Patience with small details makes perfect a large work, like the universe.”

Sun (life) and Moon (emotion) conjunct Jupiter (good fortune, expansion), representing the good karma of past lifetimes. The conjunctions may give optimism, growth, and prosperity, particularly with business, writing, and spirituality. (It’s important to “open” to it.) Sun and Moon are in Cancer, the sign of the crab. Cancerians are known for their vulnerability, nurturing, and sensitivity. Cancer rules the home, and it is also ruled by the Moon, making it a particularly strong lunar event.

Astrologer Kristy Gray says, “A New Moon in the moon’s own sign amplifies the intuitive and reflective qualities of this moment,” says Gray. “If we accept that life, like the tides, has a natural ebb and flow think of new moon in Cancer as the ebb. It’s the retreat, the inhale, the sanctuary moment that reminds us: in order to expand, we first need to come home to ourselves.”

This New Moon gives an opportunity to reset, to see the future in a positive sense, and to release worries and fears.  A Yod or “Finger of God” is found in the chart; Sun/Moon, Mars, and Pluto create an isosceles triangle. A Yod points to realization of the life purpose or destiny and the karmic challenges faced when following our destiny.

Sun/Moon square Saturn (limitation, karma) shows the conflict between limitations and restrictions (Saturn) and the desire for self-expression and identity. Sun/Moon square Neptune (illusion, mysticism) illuminates the disparity between conscious desires and intuitive hints from the inner self. It can cause confusion or struggle. (Meditation can aid with discernment.)

Mercury (communication) in Cancer is emotional and focused on home life and security. Mercury trines Saturn (limitation, karma), increasing practicality and organizational skills. Mercury sextiles Uranus (sudden change, quantum field), encouraging realizations, the need for independence, and brilliant thought.  Mercury trine Neptune (illusion, mysticism) increases sensitivity, creativity, and expression. Mercury opposition Pluto (subconscious, transformation) may cause mental conflicts and heightens the inner dialog.

Venus (love, relationships) is placed in Taurus, which gives a deep connection with nature and the earth. Venus conjunct Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) may cause sudden (positive) change with relationships and money.

Mars (overall energy, assertion) is placed in Virgo, a discriminating earth sign. Mars in Virgo concerns the mind and mental processes. Mars sextile Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) gives optimism, ambition, and strength. Mars square Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) may cause recklessness, strong reactions, and sudden willfulness.

Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) in Cancer, a water sign, expands the energy of the Moon and Sun, places emphasis on the home life, and increases overall emotion. Jupiter square Saturn (limitation, karma) brings karma and mistakes to the surface, which can increase knowledge of the spiritual path. Jupiter square Neptune (illusion, mysticism) concerns the structure of our personal world and the outer world.

Saturn (limitation, karma) in Aries, a fire sign, inspires forward motion with an eye on past mistakes. Its energy is very direct and focused. Saturn sextile Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) gives self-discipline, endurance, and inventiveness. Saturn conjunct Neptune (illusion, mysticism) aids with moving through personal and world illusion to view and find truth. Saturn sextile Pluto (subconscious, transformation) gives endurance and strength to overcome hardship and limitation.

Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) is in the last degrees of Taurus. On July 7, it will move into Gemini, an air sign, which rules communication and higher thought. Uranus sextile Neptune and trine Pluto attunes the mind and spirit to higher realities and spiritual growth.

Neptune (illusion, mysticism) in Aries may help with discernment between illusion and truth. Neptune sextile Pluto aids with understanding spiritual truths, philosophy, and finding a teacher.

Pluto in Aquarius is the placement of rebellion, freedom, and independent thinking. It also encourages space travel, electronics, and possibly more uses for AI.
