The Full Strawberry Moon appears on Thursday, June 24 at 2:39 pm ET. It’s called the Strawberry Moon as it is the time when berries grow ripe and succulent. Nature feeds and nourishes us. It’s also a super moon, which occurs when the moon is close to the earth. It expands both energy and emotion, increasing the intensity of the lunar event. There are relatively few aspects, which are basically specific geometrics formed between planets in a particular chart, but the aspects are quite potent.
The moon follows the Summer Solstice, the time of solar light when the veil between the worlds opens—and fairies are said to appear to humans. It’s a good time for making wishes and seeing dreams come true. Just as the summer sun brings crops to fruition, the solstice activates desires and dreams. The light lingers for those who long for greater connection. (It’s an excellent time for meditation and visualization.)
One of the important messages in the chart lies in the mix of energies. It’s a powerful chart with beneficial energy from Jupiter (good fortune) as well as bold and passionate energy from Venus (love, beauty) and Mars (overall energy) in Leo. Mercury (communications) in Gemini increases intuition and sharpens the mind.
In spiritual work, it’s important to increase awareness of how we use our energy with long term goals and daily activities. We also ask if our pursuits heighten or decrease our overall energy. With this chart, we have the potential to focus deeply and passionately on spiritual and worldly goals. Several planets in retrograde can create lack of focus, tiredness, or the need to rest. Obviously, we need a balance of focused energy and time for passive, restful activities. (Finding the answer is part of the challenge.)
The Sun is in Cancer, ruler of the fourth house. The watery sign of Cancer brings focus on home life, emotions and the subconscious mind—and their relationship with spirituality. Water can represent devotion and nurturing as Cancer is the mother of All.
Moon is placed in Capricorn, and it asks for reviewing structures in life including family life (Sun in Cancer), career, and the fabric of life itself. The Moon rules emotions, which may bring the necessity of reviewing emotional response to specific aspects of life. Our structure of life may come from conscious realization, ancestral or hereditary information, and/or beliefs resulting from specific events in life. Its importance lies in creating a structure of life that resonates with the inner self.
Sun (life) trines (harmonious) Jupiter (good fortune), and Moon (emotion) sextiles Jupiter. It’s a very beneficial aspect, which can bring abundance on many levels. It increases optimism and good fortune, bestowing a positive energy that can make life flow more easily.
Mercury (communications) moved direct on June 22. Mercury remains in Gemini (air), the brilliant sign of communication, which is fluent in ideas. It heightens communication of all kinds—including telepathy and intuition, particularly in the mental sphere.
Mercury trines Saturn (limitation, structure), which gives persistence, discipline, and determination. The aspect can support success in personal endeavors. Mercury squares (tension) Neptune (mysticism, illusion), and it can cloud our vision of the future and create confusion with thoughts. (It’s best to meditate on an idea, ask for guidance, and trust our heart in making big decisions—and not rely entirely on the mind.)
Venus (love, beauty) and Mars (overall energy, male) are in Leo. The placement emphasizes passion, the heart, and drama. It heightens boldness and confidence. Fire symbolizes passion, and it can ignite motion and action.
Venus trines Jupiter (good fortune, expansion), which is an excellent aspect. It increases luck in love, optimism, and enhances beauty. It also increases prosperity and the flow of abundance. It’s helpful with travel and adventure. Venus opposes Pluto (underworld, transformation) concerns power struggles, money, and relationships. It asks for reevaluation of finances, a hard look at long term relationships, and honesty with the self about what is desirable in life. (Everything in life requires a balance of energy—a relationship of give and take. We work best with a surfeit of sustaining energy, and it’s important to see if we’re happy with balances in energy in our personal lives.)
Mars (male, overall energy) opposes Saturn (limitation) holds many possible meanings. It can refer to feeling triggered on a personal or mass level. The aspect can incite competitiveness and accelerate the desire to succeed without thought of others—or it can mark a time when evolved individuals examine their core beliefs and use it as reason for reaction. Examination of the latter choice can result in positive transformation.
Saturn (limitation, karma) in Aquarius square (tension) refers to structure in the time of the New Age, and Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) may point to the need for change in our methods of living with the earth. Saturn in a fixed sign asks for examination of positive/negative equation of new age theories and the structure of the past age. The actual change depends on our insights, growth, and thoughts. The aspect is said to cause restlessness and irritability as Uranus exudes electrical energy.
Many planets are retrograde throughout the summer. They include Jupiter (good fortune), Saturn (structure, limitation), Neptune (mysticism/illusion), and Pluto (underworld, transformation). Generally speaking, retrograde planets can cause a lazy or tired feeling, which is wonderful for resting and vacation.
Fortunately, many aspects in the chart give passion, optimism, and energy. On the positive, we can choose to align with energies that allow growth and expansion. The many retrogrades can cause a feeling of lassitude, which can feel wonderful for resting but may interfere with the realization of dreams and desires. Aspects with Pluto can cause upsets, particularly when triggered, which occurs with repeating patterns of life. It’s important to find the cause of subconscious repetitive patterns and transmute the energy as this action is freeing and powerful.
