The Full Flower Moon appears on May 12 at 12:56 pm. It marks the time of the blooming flowers in the Northern Hemisphere, and it’s also the time of Wesak – the celebration of Buddha’s birthday–a special time to extend compassion and kindness whenever possible.
The Flower Moon is one of the most fertile moons of the year, and it’s a wonderful time to focus on manifestation or imagine desires coming into form. Think of planting seeds in the garden, we prepare the earth, add seeds, and water. When we think of those seeds, we nurture them by imagining beautiful flowers and vegetables while tending the earth; the same technique is useful with Taurean energy.
Despite all the beauty, it’s an intense time of change among the planets. Moon in Scorpio opposes Uranus (sudden change, quantum field), which causes deep emotions and mood swings. Neptune (illusion, mysticism) recently moved into Aries, and Pluto (subconscious, transformation) moved into Aquarius. In short, the energy is swirling and changing, and it may feel difficult to stay grounded. The answer is always to move into the inner self, but it may require strong effort.
Sun (life) is in Taurus, an earth sign symbolized by the bull, and the Moon (emotion) is placed in Scorpio, an intense water sign. Sun in Taurus marks a time of desires coming into physical form. Taurus is a fixed sign that is somewhat stubborn. It is also patient, slow, sensual, and loyal. Ruled by Venus, Taurus likes luxury and comfort. Sun conjunct Uranus (unexpected change, quantum field) gives the desire for freedom and independence from the binding aspects of life. It can also cause restlessness, nervousness, and unexpected change.
Moon (emotion) in Scorpio brings intense desires and emotions, and it heightens perception and intuitive awareness. Moon trines Saturn (karma, limitation), which gives practical inclinations, patience, and reliability. Moon opposition Uranus (unexpected change, limitation) brings instability, mood swings, and the need for sudden change. It’s actually a good time to observe emotions and wait for a new cycle of change. Moon trine Neptune (illusion, mysticism) brings sensitivity, imagination, and heightens dreams. It can aid with artistic pursuits—and dreams are not always realistic with this aspect.
Mercury (communication) is placed in Taurus, which may slow the pace of communication and add practicality to words. Mercury square Mars (action, male) creates conflicts with thought and action. It may cause irritability and touchiness—or a breakdown in communication. Mercury square Pluto (subconscious, transformation) may help with heightened communication but sometimes leads to challenges with self-expression.
Venus (relationships, love, abundance) in Aries is passionate and bold. It seeks realization of our personal needs and desires. It’s also about self-love and taking time to fulfill personal needs. Venus trine Mars (action, male) marks a passage of harmony between men and women and balance between the yin/yang. Venus conjunct Saturn (karma, limitation) is period of making sacrifices, attending to loved one’s needs, and taking responsibility for others. Venus conjunct Neptune (illusion, mysticism) enhances artistic ability, intuition, and the capacity to see and perceive beauty. It can also unite us with our spiritual self.
Mars (action, overall energy) in Leo, a fire sign, brings confidence, assertion, and the desire to socialize Mars trine Neptune (illusion, mysticism) is a time of seeking spiritual connection, acts of kindness, artistic pursuits, and internal desires. We may want to release energies, issues, and habits that are in way of spiritual growth.
Jupiter (expansion, good luck) in Gemini is about collecting, processing, and sharing information. It also concerns electronics and communication. Jupiter square Saturn (limitation, karma) creates tension and dissatisfaction but also gives energy for creative problem solving and meaningful growth. Jupiter square Neptune (illusion, mysticism) brings illusion and disappointment to trusting/naïve individuals.
Saturn (limitation and karma) in Pisces, the sign of the last Age, is bringing our collective karma to the surface, giving awareness of structures that need to change. Saturn conjunct Neptune (illusion, mysticism) is a major influence, concerning structures, practicality, natural events, and global politics. During this transitional time, we should look at our beliefs and thoughts about these issues as it is turning point in consciousness. Our group consciousness may point to future outcomes.
Uranus (unexpected change, quantum field) in Taurus affects the earth, the structure of the earth, and abundance. (Many earthquakes are occurring worldwide, and the weather is very strange, calling our attention to the energy of the earth.) Uranus sextiles Neptune (illusion, mysticism) and trines Pluto (subconscious, transformation). Both aspects can accelerate spiritual growth.
Neptune (illusion, mysticism) in Aries, a fire sign, points to the need to move ahead with a specific purpose in mind. Oddly, we still encounter the somewhat muddy collective consciousness of Neptune in Pisces. Think of the strong desire to step ahead with a focused purpose and the floating consciousness of Pisces, and it’s obvious that they don’t blend well. Neptune (illusion, mysticism) sextile Pluto (subconscious, transformation) increases our ability to perceive deeply on a spiritual level.
Pluto (subconscious, transformation) is retrograde in Aquarius calls for a united motion into higher consciousness as the focus of change. The retrograde asks for a time of self-exploration and growth.
