The Full Buck Moon appeared on July 13, and we’ll feel the energy for the next 7-14 days. The Buck Moon refers to the time when male deer (bucks) begin growing new horns, which appear as tiny bumps or buds, in June and July.  It’s a super moon, meaning the moon’s orbit is closer than usual to the earth, which causes the energy to feel very intense.

With the moon’s appearance on the 13th day of the month—and several aspects with Pluto—it concerns endings, beginnings, and rebirth. In the indigenous cycles, 13 represents the spiritual ending of a cycle, the space between an old and new cycle. Think of it as moving into a new cosmic or physical location with the need to consider what you take with you and what’s left behind.

Sun (life) in Cancer speaks of the ocean, waves of emotion, the home, and feminine.  Sun conjuncts Mercury (communications, mind), sharpening thoughts, vision, and focus. Sun trine Neptune (mysticism, illusion), increases our ability to connect with the spiritual world and open to the meaning of symbols and dreams. Sun opposition Pluto (subconscious, underworld) bring disruption through some type of change, usually through a family member or friend. In the big picture, the change is likely for growth and greater understanding of the self.

Moon (emotions) in Capricorn asks for practical understanding, rules, order, and career. Moon opposition Mercury (mind) mixes emotion and thought in a confusing way. Moon trine Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) causes thoughts and emotions to move rapidly. Brilliant insights and gestalt realizations can accompany this aspect. Moon conjunct Pluto (subconscious, underworld) intensifies feelings, emotions, and memories. The flow of emotions and memories can feel overwhelming. (Plan to mediate and rest.)

A Mystical Rectangle is formed with the Moon’s Nodes, which can make life feel fated or karmic. Astrologer Stephanie Jean Clement, says, “A Mystic Rectangle encompasses 2 oppositions, 2 trines, and 2 sextiles, forming a rectangle. Energy is cycled through the four signs and houses, alternating supportive conditions with opportunities, and adding a strong dose of awareness at each turn.”

Mercury (thought, communications) in Cancer can align thoughts and emotions. It’s focused on home, rest, and flowing energy. Mercury square Jupiter (good fortune, expansion) brings optimism with an eye to the future—along with a tendency to ignore or miss small details. Mercury trine Neptune (mysticism, illusion) acts as a catalyst for sensitivity, dreaming, spirituality, and imagination. It also helps with conveying a larger picture in a soft, simple way. Mercury opposition Pluto gives importance to hidden truths and secrets. On a larger level, propaganda and news may cover the truth more than usual.

Venus (relationships, feminine) in Gemini is social, active, and interesting in relationships. Venus trines Saturn (karma, time), indicating a time to discern what is valuable or worthy in relationships, business, and career. (Again, what do we keep or discard?) Venus square Neptune (mysticism, idealism) brings lack of self-esteem about personal appearance, heightens sensitivity and artistic skills, and increases imagination.

Mars (action, male) in Taurus gives a push to put ideas and desires into physical form. It also gives practicality and strength. Mars squares Pluto (subconscious, transformation) tends to create power struggles and confrontations. There’s often a strong desire for control. (We will see this play out in the outer world as well as in our personal world.)

Saturn (karma, limitation) squares Uranus (sudden change, quantum field), causing the polarization made evident through the split over personal rights, politics, and climate change. We’ll experience this aspect until the end of the year.

Uranus trine Pluto aids with transformation into authenticity. It encourages the quest for the inner self. More importantly, it reveals truth and patterns, giving a push into a new and better life.
