Overcoming Darkness with Light

Sometimes, the world seems dark and strange. It’s difficult not to feel specific world events or significant weather, but it’s important to raise our vibration–if we want things to change in a positive sense.

Below are a few of my favorite techniques. These tips and techniques are helpful in raising our vibration and seeing the goodness in the world. By raising our vibration, we move back into peace and harmony, which pulls in the frequency of positive change.

  1. Affirm the power of love and have faith in the universe. Believing in the power of love and light is part of utilizing it. (The “feeling” and faith are part of sending light. Visualization and connection are also important.)
  2. Send light and love to the geographical location of any disturbance. Send light to everyone who is involved in the problem. Imagine love and light changing and raising the energy of the location.
  3. Focus on peace. We can radiate it through ourselves–and out into the world. Make a strong choice about placement of consciousness. Encourage others to do the same.
  4. See the opposite of a current situation. See peace instead of violence.  See a safe and beautiful world. (Take 5 or 10 minutes to “see” this clearly.)
  5. Believe in the power of spiritual work. Meditating, thinking positive thoughts, and helping others do a great deal in creating a better world. The work helps, and the desired change is coming.
  6. Avoid reactive people. It’s impossible to observe when people strongly express their opinion. Stay neutral and work from a place of love. Observe and detach from the media. (We’re leaving the time of Kali Yuga when negative vibrations were attractive and inviting. The media makes life seem worse by focusing on negativity. Choose to be different and stay focused on the positive.)
  7. KNOW there is a great deal of love on this planet. We may not always see it, but love and light are the underlying fabric of matter. And the light is growing. (A good intuitive can “see” it.)

Specific Tips

  • Weather. It’s best to work with severe weather by thinking about the geographical area and sending love (pink light) to loved ones and the beauty of the location. Imagine love like a soft, pink cloud, covering and protecting everything. (Please don’t try to move the storm.)
  • People When experiencing irritation, disagreement, or negative energy with a loved one or friend, pull back from the situation. Refrain from thoughts identifying the other person as “wrong”. See a solution strongly and surrender the situation to the universe. (Whenever possible, do not dwell on negative thoughts and feelings about the other person. Think about their strengths and positive skills.) It can take a few weeks for the energy to change, but a different, calmer feeling should come in a few days. (Don’t share opinions while the energy is changing!)
  • More People. Learn to detect the energetics of a person, which goes beyond actions and words. Notice wishes for changes in their behavior and pull personal desires back. Gently project happiness for the person.
  • Social Media New, and Politics. Allow other people to have judgments. Don’t correct them. Make the experience about remaining neutral and positing positive information. When we remain neutral, the person will seek out someone who strongly agrees or disagrees. In general, negative people want negative energy. Don’t play the game. (Also, people learn from mistakes, and we are not their teachers – unless they ask.)
  • Pause. Situations often change when we don’t react, talk, or think about them. Pausing returns us to the inner self where unusual and happy answers are discovered. When in this quiet place, reflect on the beauty of the inner self and the physical world.

Autumn Equinox Forecast

The autumn equinox indicates the energetic trend for the next 3 months. It occurs on Saturday, Sept. 22.  It’s a beautiful time of year when the Sun moves into Libra, a planet ruled by Venus, that brings beauty, balance, and light.

Overall, the chart presents challenges with a T-square (Sun/Mercury, Saturn and Chiron) and the continuation of the Mars/Uranus square. More importantly, it presents divine guidance and insights through beautiful trines, which give encouragement and mystical help. (For many, life may have felt heavy and/challenging in the past few weeks, but this chart provides energies to rise to the next level of personal/spiritual development.)

The Sun is in the last degrees of Virgo but will soon move into Libra, the sign of balance, beauty, and art. The Sun (life, light) and Mercury (communication) in Libra are conjunct (closely placed), amplifying our ability to access the higher mind through both logic and creativity. Sun trines Mars (action, male), which activates the proper use of physical energy through action, thought, and word. Sun’s square with Saturn (karma) activates motion between our memories and patterns of the past and our desire to create a more positive future. (We’ll move between the 2 states.)

Moon (emotions, inner self) is beautifully placed in Pisces, a water sign. The Moon trines Venus in Scorpio, allowing positive, feminine emotions, which aid in finding the flow in life. Moon sextiles Saturn (the past) and Uranus (sudden change, awakening), bringing together the two aspects of life in synchronous way. Moon conjuncts (close to) Neptune in Pisces, and this heightens the ability to glimpse the unseen world, intensifies night dreams, and increases artistic ability and insight.

Mercury (communications) sits in Libra, encouraging reflection and balance. It trines (harmonious) Mars, encouraging proper, enlightened action that encompasses thought about all sides of problems and issues. Mercury squares (tension) Saturn, asking for consideration of old karmic debts and patterns, which can cloud perception and depth of thought.

Venus (love, relationships) is placed in Scorpio; it intensifies all emotions about relationships of every type. (Passion is wonderful when it is correctly directed.) Venus squares (tension) Mars, increasing the possibility of misunderstandings in relationships and necessitating the pause, generated by clear thought. Venus opposes Uranus (sudden change, awakening), inciting strong thoughts, emotions, and possibly actions based on old patterns – or realizations, which can give grace to recognize and release them. Venus trines (harmonious) Neptune (mysticism, idealism), opening consciousness to ideals and ideas based on intuitively perceived information.

Mars (action, male) sits in Aquarius, emphasizing thought, fixed perceptions, and connection with humanity. Mars squares Uranus (sudden change, awakening), which can accelerate tendencies to act and/or speak strongly about personal beliefs and feelings. It can also teach us to hold back and consider the validity of perpetual responses – and create new perceptions based on universal truth.

Jupiter (good fortune) is in Scorpio, a magnetic, intuitive water sign. In this position, Jupiter urges us to find the truth behind repetitive situations to find good fortune in life. Jupiter trines (harmonious) Neptune, encouraging and accentuating the importance of intuitively seeking answers behind the “veil”. The aspect also gives hope and encouragement to seekers.

Neptune (mysticism, illusion) is beautifully highlighted in this chart. The Moon conjuncts (close) Neptune, intensifying our ability to perceive the mystical world. Venus (love) and Jupiter (good fortune) trine Neptune, indicating our most desirable answers can be found through meditation, beauty, and the contemplation of love. Jupiter (good fortune) and Neptune (mysticism) are sextile Pluto (subconscious). The aspects hint at ease with finding subconscious or hidden truths more easily than usual as we continue on our spiritual quest.

T-Square with Sun/Mercury, Saturn, and Chiron

Sun (life) and Mercury (thought) are opposite Chiron, which encourages looking at old wounds when focusing on improvement in life. Jupiter trines (harmonious) Chiron, creating ease with the process, and Saturn (karma) squares Chiron, indicating the need for more integration of the wounded self.  Sun/Mercury square (tension) Saturn, which creates conflict between life/higher mind and patterns/circumstances based on the past. Sun/Mercury square Chiron, pointing to old wounds, which require clearing. Saturn opposes Chiron, intensifying the presence and feelings of the past, which were associated with the initial pain. (Positively speaking, T-squares exert pressure that can lead to clearing blocks and obstacles.)

Tips:

  1. Beautiful, feminine energy is exuded through aspects with Moon, Venus, and Neptune. These three feminine planets are placed in water, soothing emotion through spiritual vibrations. Meditation, focusing on angels, and recording dreams can help with attuning to the mystical energies presented in the chart.
  2. Mars (male) square Uranus (sudden change, awakening) is the aspect, which brought irritated and angry feelings to the surface – and desire for action – throughout the summer. In this chart, it is softened by a trine with the Sun and Mercury. (Sun and Mercury send light and the wisdom of the higher mind to rowdy Mars, lord of action and disputes.)
  3. A T-square places intense pressure on our consciousness to realize the patterns caused by old wounds and karma. When we realize the truth about the hurt and pain in our past – which is energetic at its root – it’s possible to change how we experience life. This shift provides freedom for growth.
  4. Neptune (mysticism, idealism) is beautifully placed in the chart. It can connect us to the creative imagination, spiritual ideals, or simply the loveliness of the world.
  5. The elements (fire, air, water, and earth) are fairly well distributed with a lack of fire, but the energy should feel much better than earlier in the month. The difficulties in the chart are met with equivalent, positive, and spiritual forces. (The universe supports us through the next shift.)

New Moon Forecast

The New Moon appears at 2:01 pm on Sunday, September 9. New Moons are typically for releasing the past and planning the future. They bring the energy of the “void”, a pause before creating in the next cycle of the moon. (The Full and New Moon tend to feel more intense, which is representative of the impact of light and darkness.) With only three planets in retrograde, it’s time to begin a cycle of moving forward.

Sun, Moon, and Mercury are in Virgo, which can indicate service, arcane truth, and emphasis on work. Virgo is an earth sign, and it rules the body, placing particular emphasis on health. All three planets oppose Neptune (wounded healer) in Pisces, and Sun and Moon trine Pluto (subconscious, regeneration.) The sign of Pisces can refer to the past age; it also rules mysticism and sacrifice. In past ages, there was an emphasis on personal sacrifice, which included helping others (and forgetting the self.) In the Aquarian Age, we are becoming aware of the need for balanced giving.

Virgo loves to move through life by focusing on details and giving directions; Pisces flows through life with eyes closed and navigates through intuition. Both skills will be needed to glide through life for the next few days.

A Grand Trine with Mercury (communications), Saturn (time, karma), and Uranus (awakening, sudden change) can help with finding our way through the dichotomy of the chart. (Every chart is about learning to live in the physical and spiritual world simultaneously.) Mercury heightens our ability to listen to the higher mind. Saturn represents the past, and Uranus symbolizes the future. By focusing on the inner self and listening to its guidance, we can successfully and harmoniously blend the lessons of the past, and the pull of the future. (It’s how we create a new life on a spiritual level.)

Venus is passionate in Scorpio, heightening magnetic and possessive feelings. Venus is not as agreeable when placed in Scorpio; she squares Mars (male, energy) and opposes Uranus (sudden change, awakening). When Venus squares Mars, it makes for disagreements between the male (action) and female (loving) sides of the self. Venus opposite Uranus can create sudden, impulsive action and misunderstandings with other people and loved ones.

Mars (male, energy) in Capricorn remains square Uranus (sudden change, New Age). It causes the sensation of a build-up of energy that wants to run rampant through life with uneasy emotions. Of course, we know better, and we have to deal with the energy by counting to 10 or running around the block. (It begins to subside around Sept. 18.)

Jupiter in Scorpio continues to ask for vigilance in seeking the truth as to why events occur in a particular way and people continue to act in a repetitive fashion. When we understand how our energy affects the cyclical events, we gain a great deal of freedom. As the planet of good fortune and expansion, Jupiter asks for insights and self-reflection so we can broaden our base of understanding. It’s how we move into good fortune by creating success through the happiness of aligning with the positive in life.

Jupiter (good fortune) in Scorpio trines Neptune (mysticism, illusion) in Pisces, which brings a light-hearted optimistic feeling about the future and life. By seeing the truth (Jupiter/Scorpio), we move through the illusion in life to create and experience beauty, elated emotion, and the sensation of flowing into the mystical aspects of life.

Saturn moved direct earlier in the week. In this chart, Saturn is a supportive planet that encourages positive use of structure, lessons, and influential memories. Saturn (karma, limitation) trines Uranus (sudden change, new age), bringing a beneficial energy and practical insights into building a new world based on the best of the old world while intuitively perceiving the possible benefits of the new world.

Sun and Moon in Virgo trine Pluto in Capricorn increase our potential of fathoming secrets hidden within the earth. Sun and Moon in Virgo heighten our ability to read information based on small details (physically and spiritually), and Pluto rules power and the underworld. With many good aspects found in earth signs, it may be possible to discover nature’s secrets – or to receive her guidance. The aspect also heightens our ability to use power wisely and feel life more intensely.

Sabian Symbols, based on Lynda Hill’s interpretations

Sun/Moon are on Virgo 18, “Two Girls Playing with An Ouija Board”. There’s a desire to use clairvoyant abilities to connect or contact the spirit world. The Ouija Board denotes a tool for divination. But divination only works when the mind and spirit are focused together on the question—and are open to the answer. The symbol advises wise seeking to avoid incorrect and/or misleading information to flow in from the spirit world as with an Ouija Board.

Mercury sits on Virgo 7, “A Harem”.  The feminine awakening presents an image of strong women working together to create balance and nurturing in the world. Obviously, the goal is living and working together in harmony to create a positive existence.

The image of a harem speaks of the problems of many women living together such as competitiveness, jealousy, and disagreements. The symbol points to the need to work through feminine weaknesses through awareness while developing strength and harmony.

Venus is on Scorpio 1, “A Sightseeing Bus filled with Tourists”. The symbol depicts traveling with others to known destination but with a lack of awareness of the sights, sounds, and passengers. The conditions are unknown, and experiences are imagined – to be determined during the journey. In many ways, a spiritual journey is the same. We know a more enlightened state is the destination but are unaware of what it entails.

Mars is on Capricorn 30, “Directors of a Large Firm Meet in Secret Conference.” The imagery hints at the concept of leaders deciding the future for others, possibly considering their needs – or not. It can also indicate subconscious forces that tend to determine events in life.

Using Our Gifts

If we continue to search for the soul, hold our vision, and walk in love and beauty, the landscape will change. We’re recalibrating and changing with the new energies. Sometimes, we need to remember and use our gifts to make the passage easier.

  1. Using visualization is one of our incredible gifts. When we visualize, we create. It requires time and repetition, but it works. When we combine visualization and the light of meditation, results come faster—and they resonate with our heart.
  2. We can remember our true identity. We are children of universe with powers of light and goodness. It may take time to develop those inherent powers, but they are there.
  3. We can speak to ourselves with kind words of encouragement. We can notice our efforts to move into the light and make small changes in life. In general, our words of encouragement should feel stronger than our critical, inner voice. It helps in accomplishing what our inner self wants.
  4. The placement of consciousness alters our feelings and thoughts. When we meditate, connect with the inner self, or engage in simple tasks, which give joy, we find our center. We move into a higher vibration. When we live in at a higher frequency, life often alters its flow.
  5. We have the power to send light. Simply go within and send light (and color) to anyone or any situation. For example, send light to a difficulty as opposed to thinking negative thoughts. Send light to your day, friends, and animals.
  6. We can ask the universe for a higher level energy level and more inner connection. If we keep asking, the universe responds. Sometimes, it’s easier than doing it for the self.
  7. We can project a positive feeling and outcome into the future. It doesn’t always work because we are learning a lesson and/or rewriting a belief. But it will always work with a few things, which encourages our efforts for the future as we move into mastery.
  8. We can review memories of joyful times, moments of deep connection, and periods of time when we stepped into our power. We can also imagine tapping into inner power and using it more effectively. (Consciousness follows the “wand” of the mind.
  9. At least once or twice each day, we can meditate on the power and feeling of love. It is one of the most powerful forces in the universe, and it changes everything—if we let enough of it into our heart space.

Full Moon Forecast

The Full Moon appears on Sunday, August 26 at 7:56 am. Five planets remain retrograde, limiting success and forward motion. However, Mars moves direct on August 27, inciting courage, decisiveness, and strength –and there are many uplifting aspects with positive influence involving Sun (life) and Moon (the feminine, emotions).

The chart is heavy with earth, which can provide grounding and connection with nature—or denseness and lack of flexibility. After a summer of retrogrades, which demand reflection and restrict action, we have a great deal of repressed energy, and it’s important to continue our restraint through contemplative thought, words, and actions. (It’s probably wise to clear energy through meditation before expressing it in the physical world.)

The Moon (emotions feminine) is wonderfully placed in the intuitive, feminine sign of Pisces, which opens mystical intuition and brings alignment with the unseen world. When the Moon is in a water sign, it’s particularly fertile, encouraging growth, transformation, and germination. Moon sextiles Saturn (structure) and Uranus (awakening, change), which enhances our ability to bring life into physical form

Sun (life) in Virgo, an earth sign representing the High Priestess who understands the laws of the universe and applies them accurately and discretely. On the human side, Virgo can bring enlighten through spiritual discrimination and/or become focused on small details and ignore the importance of the larger side of life. (Every sign has positive/negative connotations.)

The Sun conjuncts Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation of Leo. When the Sun conjuncts Regulus, there is an emanation of universal love. (Leo rules the heart.) A Grand Trine is formed with the Sun in Virgo, Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus. The Trine is placed in earth signs, reflecting the potential to reap return on efforts made earlier in the year.  Saturn is structure, and Uranus in Taurus concerns physical life. The lovely Trine encourages a new structure in the physical world—or a new more connected way of living life.

Mercury (mind, communications) in Leo arouses passion and desire, and it urges heart-felt expression. Mercury is direct, smoothing communications, travel, and the motion of life. Mercury squares Jupiter in Scorpio. Squares create tension, and Jupiter asks for a deeper look at life and a greater understanding about the veiled energy beneath events and thoughts.

When placed in Libra, Venus (feminine, love) aligns with the goddess of beauty because it is an exalted position for this planet. Venus can help in grasping the loveliness in small moments and remembering the value of the heat space, which conveys love and grace. Venus squares (tension) Mars (male, energy), creating a lack of communication between the male/female sides of the self.

Venus square Pluto (subconscious, transformation) intensifies emotions as well as the desire to control and direct relationships. The lesson concerns releasing control of loved ones and trusting the universe to give what is needed. (It makes see the shadowy, unlovable part of the self while urging for transformation into a purer form. This is what love does. It makes the beauty, harmony, and peace in life become visible and attainable. It transmutes everything into a higher level.

Mars (male, energy) is placed in Capricorn, an earth sign. In direct position, it can help with the practical side of life, providing a positive, strong focus on work, and it amplifies focus and ambition. However, Mars continues to square Uranus, encouraging energetic eruptions and sudden behavioral shifts. Mars conjuncts (close to) Pluto, the god of the underworld. Mars conjunct Pluto gives the power to move through blocks and obstacles and create substantial change.

Jupiter (expansion, growth) in Scorpio trines Neptune in Pisces; it’s a romantic, dreamy, and spiritual aspect. Heightening our religious and spiritual affinity, the trine aids in finding mystical, peaceful pursuits for a focus in life. It increases our propensity to act out of love and an inner higher purpose. Jupiter sextile Pluto offers transformative energy to make changes in the world through the power of goodness and higher intentions based on inner growth and self-realization. It encourages spiritual rebirth for many people in the general population.

Saturn (karma, structure, limitation) trines Uranus (awakening, sudden change), providing insights on combining the best qualities of the past age and the New Age. Neptune (mysticism, illusion) sextiles Pluto (transformation). According to Robert Hand, it indicates a period of changing morality, sexuality, and religious beliefs.

In summary, it’s a stable chart with grounding influences from 5 planets placed in earth. It’s also a feminine chart with 8 planets in earth and water. We lack the influence of mystical energies from eclipses and other unusual influences, but there are many aspects to lead us into love and divine understanding.

The Grand Trine with Sun, Saturn, and Uranus heightens our ability to manifest. Moon in Pisces opens our inner vision to the unseen world. Sun conjunct Regulus aligns our heart with an infusion of divine love. Venus in Libra heightens the beauty in life, making it easier to become present in life. Jupiter (expansion) trines Neptune (mysticism) increases our awareness of the positive effect of spiritual awareness and action.

Sabian Symbols, based on the work of Lynda Hill

Sun is on Virgo 4, “Black and White Children Playing Happily Together”. With Sun conjunct Regulus, the symbol points to the value of universal love, which overcomes duality and create wholeness. As we move into divine love, the differences, created by separation, are transformed to a higher view of wholeness.

Moon is on Pisces 4, “Heavy Traffic Linking Two Seaside Resorts.” Seaside resorts tend to refer to locations for rest, relaxation, and enjoyment. The sea refers to emotions, and a seaside resort reflects pleasant emotions. Heavy traffic points to many people traveling at one time without cooperation or smoothness provided by earlier preparation.

Mercury is placed on Leo 15, “A Street Pageant Moving Along in a Street Packed with People.” Again, the imagery denotes too many people, crowding, and a lack of space. These symbols may refer to mass consciousness, which lacks the knowledge to adequately clear thoughts and emotions, and essentially jams the “street” of positive collective communication.

Venus on Libra 19, “A Gang of Robbers in Hiding”. This strange symbol may speak about the potential of hidden aspects of the self that hide in the shadows of our patterns and unhappiness in life. Venus is love, and the planet is well placed. Perhaps, the symbol is referring to our capacity to release hidden memories and traumas through the powerful potential of love.

Mars on Capricorn 29, “A Woman Reading Tea Leaves”. It’s interesting to see Mars, the keeper of male and physical energy, represented by the symbol of the psychic. Since Mars remains conjunct Uranus, it’s probably important to listen to our intuition and heart before taking action. (No one looks at tea leaves unless they seek help in finding the right direction.)

Moving into More Love

Everyone wants more love. When you connect with the love “frequency”, you receive more of it. When you think about awakening, you automatically connect with energetic waves, which give the feeling of love. When you open your heart, you receive more light and love from the universe.

It’s interesting to realize how the placement of consciousness affects your experience. For example, when you think about light, you receive love. When you love yourself, it alters the flow of particles in your body and energy field. When you send love (pink light), it can alter relationships and bring healing. (Obviously, this type of work involves sincere feelings.) When you feel the love of another person, it speeds the motion of your molecules and creates more self-love.

  1. The ultimate source of light and love is the universe. It comes through meditation and contemplation—and by listening to the inner self. (You know when you find it because everything feels bright, beautiful, and still.)
  2. Finding universal love changes our perception of life. It reveals the inner self. You see, the inner self often differs from “who” you think you are. This part of the self feels life with a multiplicity of sensations. It speaks through intuition to lead you on your path.
  3. Finding the inner self means embarking on a passage of self-love. This involves boundaries, insights, loving the darkness within the self, and a willingness to see the truth. It also brings more love, compassion, and empathy. It’s a journey—not an immediate answer.
  4. The heart speaks more loudly as you step into love. It whispers about what you truly love, and it tells you about hurt and pain, which are sometimes hidden beneath the surface. You also become more vulnerable, and this means becoming brave.
  5. As you step into vulnerability, you begin to see how universal love heals. You can send light or love to others. You can hold a vision of healing for the world. You can send love, comfort, and compassion. You want to see abundance and success for others.
  6. Love teaches you about change, which may mean changing yourself. Perhaps, you learn to love your body or your life. Maybe, you speak more kindly or see the underlying light in everything. It leads to a shift into a higher state of being.
  7. As you learn more about love, you accept the human state of duality. You know the state of love shifts from one duality into another. Life provides the opportunity to shift sadness into happiness or loneliness to love, but you learn to rely on the beauty of your heart to bring you back into center–where the universe awaits.

NOTE: Everyone has moments of “not” feeling love. This can be useful if you are willing to see these dark places and moments as points, which offer the potential for change and growth. (Accept this as the part of you that longs for change, and send light to the feelings. Assume you have the ability to change the circumstances, thoughts, and feelings, which are associated with this state.)

New Super Moon and Solar Eclipse

A Solar Eclipse, the last of three eclipses, falls on the New Moon on August 11. Eclipses and New Moons are about new beginnings and endings. We enter a void, and, then life expands as the New Moon moves into fullness. The void will feel more intense because the moon is particularly close to earth, which is known as a Super New Moon. At the same, we’re moving through the Lion’s Gate, the annual influx of solar light, during August 8-12.

This eclipse is not about transformation into higher realms. The aspects ask us to see the bigger truths beneath the surface. The New Moon/Eclipse chart focuses on the practical aspects of life – the art of staying centered in the heart space when life is chaotic, difficult, or stressful. (The heart and inner self can always find the right action; the challenge is dealing with the personality’s habitual reactions to life.)

With five planets in fire–Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, and Chiron–there is much passion and heat. Appropriately, Sun (outer self), Moon (inner self), and Mercury (mind) are conjunct in Leo, inciting courage, loyalty, and a desire to follow the heart.

Three strong squares appear between Sun (life), Moon (emotions), Mercury (mind), and Jupiter (good fortune, expansion). According to texts, Jupiter knows the right path for our illumination, blessings, and inner growth. Jupiter is placed in Scorpio, and its skill lies seeing the truth beneath the surface – and applying it to transmute our lives into a higher form.

These three squares create tension between the inner self and the part of the self that lacks alignment with our soul, particularly on the level of life (Sun), emotions (Moon), and Mercury (thought/communication). All of the planets fall in fixed signs (Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio), indicating the importance of seeing life from a different, broader perspective and an open mind. (Moving into love requires seeing where we are distanced from it such as  through people, places, and perception. The challenge is recognizing the truth and making appropriate changes.)

Mars (energy, assertion, male) squares Uranus (awakening, sudden change). Uranus loves change, and Mars interprets this as reaction on the physical and emotional level. With seven planets in retrograde, the Mars/Uranus square is like a subterranean channel with energy flowing beneath the surface that can explode when brought to the surface unless it is wisely directed.

Venus (feminine, love, relationships) is beautifully placed in Libra, accentuating our ability to perceive beauty, balance, and fairness. Venus trines (harmonious) Mars in Aquarius, bringing harmony between the male/female sides of the self – as well as partnerships and relationships. Venus squares Saturn in Capricorn, bringing tension based on the past (and karma) to the surface for clearing. (Again, it’s another opportunity to see how beliefs and experience cloud perceptions.)

  Jupiter

Jupiter (good fortune, expansion) trines Neptune (illusion, mysticism), imbuing the forecast with positive energy and hopefulness. Jupiter sextiles Pluto (subconscious, transmutation), helping with the right use of power and strength. Saturn (time, limitation) trines Uranus (sudden change, awakening), creating a harmonious background for overcoming karma and moving into the beauty and transcendence of awakening.

Uranus moved into Taurus (earth) in May, and volcanoes erupt in Hawaii while fires rage in California, Greece, and England. On another level, a prolific number of  hatchlings (in my lifetime) of birds and reptiles (snakes, lizards, frogs) appeared in late May. For those of us who spend hours in nature, the Earth feels wonderfully alive.

Notes:

  • Fortunately, we’ll receive light from the Lion’s Gate while passing through the darkness of the New Moon, and trines with Venus/Mars, Jupiter/Neptune, and Saturn/Uranus mitigate the intense energy of squares with Sun/Moon/Mercury and Jupiter.
  • The challenge lies in remaining neutral when previously “unseen” causes of frustration and unhappiness become appear. By returning to the heart, we can find our way and gently navigate through obstacles through visualization, careful conversations, and a focus on love. It’s part of living on a higher level, but it’s never easy.
  • Mars (assertion, male) squares Uranus (sudden change, awakening), creating tension and upset. This aspect encourages quick action and retort and can create upsetting emotions. It’s about reaction as opposed to response. When a change or conversation is needed, wait and meditate on it for several days. (Emotions translate poorly while this aspect is active. Aspect continues through September 18.)
  • Venus encourages us to find love in balance, harmony, and beauty. Part of the vision of the inner self comes from contemplation of beauty and how it relates to the heart. Take time to reflect on the beauty of the people, landscape, and simple pleasures like the sun and moon.
  • Much of the chart is about moving through our fixed ideas about life, people, and the way in which live. In the big picture, it’s marvelous to let go of the small aspects of life and embrace the larger possibilities.

Sabian Symbols, based on the work of Lynda Hill

Sabian Symbols provide an interpretation of the placement of the planet in a particular sign. Every sign (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, etc) has thirty degrees. Each degree has a specific meaning.

Sun and Moon are placed on Leo 19, “A Houseboat Party Crowded with Revelers; The Water Reflects Its Lights.” The symbol feels appropriate for the eclipse. Many of us are gathered together on a vessel amidst the water, which represents emotion. Sometimes, it may seem like a party as we move together in the New Age. Other times, we’re confined within the group energy of the people around us, and their energy is amplified and reflected by the pond, lake, or sea.

Mercury is on Leo 15, “A Street Pageant Moving Along a Street Packed with People.” The imagery of an exciting group event repeats with Mercury, which rules mind and communications. We can observe or participate in the pageant, find unity or feel pressed by the crowd, or celebrate or withdraw.

Venus sits on Libra 5, “A Man Teaching The True Inner Knowledge Of The New World To His Students”. This symbol seems self-evident. As we awaken, it is love that leads us to true inner knowledge, teachers, and the perception of the New World.  (Stay aligned with the heart.)

Mars is on Aquarius 1, “A Woman Reading Tea Leaves.” Mars is all about action; it loves reaction, arguments, and movement into the next brawl. This symbol encourages focusing on the direction of the intuitive self by deciphering messages that may not always make sense in the outer world. Intuitive messages are often confusing on the surface but offer true guidance through hints and feelings.

Jupiter sits on Scorpio 15, “Children Playing Around Five Mounds of Sand.” The five mounds of sand represent the 5 elements, which is sometimes referred to as the pentacle. In short, the children do not understand the power of symbols or their inherent ability to create change in the physical world through occult work. (This symbol may refer to us because Jupiter squares the Sun, Moon, and Mercury in this chart.  Perhaps, part of our spiritual maturity comes through the perception of our abilities.)

Full Blood Moon and Lunar Eclipse

The Full Blood (Red) Moon appears on Friday, July 27 with the longest lunar eclipse of the 21st century. The Full Moon Eclipse is a powerhouse, and it can ignite emotions and erratic actions. It can also act as a catalyst for realizing the potential and beauty of the inner self. If we choose, the eclipse can act as a door into self-awareness and development of spiritual gifts. (Astrology consistently presents equations of energy, which affect emotion and reaction; however, the placement of the consciousness is the determining factor in the outcome.)
Sun (life) is in Leo, increasing passion, drama, and the desire to live through the heart. It brings vitality, courage, and creativity into life. Moon (mother, emotions) is placed in Aquarius, the air sign that rules group endeavors, individuality, and mentality. The Moon is almost exactly conjunct Mars, and the degrees of their placement refer to “A Council of Ancestors” (Moon), indicating guidance from souls who walked the same path, and “A Hindu Healer Glows with Mystic Power” (Mars), which may hint at the best way of using our energy.
Mars (energy, male, assertion) is at its brightest since 2003, and it’s close to the earth. Mars’ aspects with Jupiter and Uranus intensify its power – and our energy. Mars is currently in a retrograde position, but its energy can feel like running in place or living in hyper-drive without a clear focus.
Mercury (communications) moves into retrograde on July 26, and it slows progression of many aspects of life. Mercury (communications) in Leo (fire) is passionate and dramatic. In retrograde, it may mean our passions need tempering by focusing on the heart – and questioning their alignment with the inner self. Mercury’s retro position asks for rest, relaxation, and review of life. It slows travel and communications.
Venus in Virgo can be critical or wise. But Venus’ influence is mainly positive with a sextile with Jupiter (good fortune), meaning love is aligned with expansion and growth. Venus and Neptune are opposed, which can result in difficulty discerning illusion and reality –specifically within relationships. (This aspect also heightens our sense of beauty.) Venus (love, feminine) trines Pluto (underworld, transformation), adding power and energy to the aspects of life that we love.

Squares

Squares cause tension between two energies. The tension can sometimes push us into finding new methods and ways of dealing with life. They can also feel frustrating. It’s helpful to know we do have the power to transcend them. (Besides, we are always tested before moving into the next level of consciousness, which the eclipse definitely offers.)

Sun (life), Moon (emotions), Mercury (communications), and Mars (action) square Jupiter, the planet of good fortune and expansion. These squares are in fixed signs, possibly reflecting stubbornness, lack of flexibility, and changes that lead to growth. Sun square Jupiter may reveal how our vision of life requires expansion and growth. Moon (emotions) square Jupiter draws old emotions and limitations of the past to the surface and their conflict with a need for growth. Mercury (communications) square Jupiter can cause procrastination and a sense of laziness.

Mars (action) square Jupiter gives enthusiasm, energy, and zest for life, but Jupiter can make the passion excessive and impulsive.Sun (life), Moon (emotions) and Mars (action, male, passion) square Uranus, the planet of unpredictability and awakening. Sun square Uranus increases the need for personal freedom and the feeling of being different or not fitting into groups. Moon square Uranus can cause unpredictable, rapid changing emotions, making it difficult to focus and complete tasks. Mars square Uranus denotes creative, erratic, and passionate energy that can be channeled or explosive.

Jupiter (expansion) trines Neptune (illusion, mysticism) with a continuance of a hopeful, light and optimistic feeling, which has been helpful during the summer months. Saturn (limitation, karma) trines Uranus (New Age, awakening) bestows a positive intermingling of concepts of the Piscean and Aquarian Age.

Positive aspects with Chiron (the wounded healer) include a trine with Sun, making life and healing align, and sextiles with Moon (emotions) and Mars (action). Saturn (limitation, karma) squares Chiron, indicating the need to find the source of our limitations and clear them with active consciousness.

Notes:

  • Awakened people (like you) may feel tension, but you should be capable of dealing with the energies throughout the weekend. However, not everyone is like you. The world may present chaotic actions and energies, but you know how to change energy so send peaceful vibrations into the space around you and out into the world (Think of peace as beautiful blue-green waves that bring calm and love.)
  • The present moment (and throughout the week) is NOT time for acting on repressed feelings, talking to others about unfair behavior, or beginning a new project. (Write letters and emails that you never send.) With many planets in retrograde, take time to meditate on the beauty of your desires – and the opportunity to do so. After all, it’s a gift.
  • Mercury is retrograde, limiting travel and mental expansion. Mercury retro tends to slow communications, travel, computers, and electronics. It also tends to cause confusion. It’s a time to rest, review, reflect, and remain consistent with spiritual practices.
  • Squares with Jupiter (good fortune, expansion) can limit the outcome of best efforts and cause frustration. Sun (life, self), Moon (emotions), and Mars (action, masculine) square Uranus (sudden change, awakening), which may prompt eccentric or sudden action. It’s far wiser to delay the action and go within. Let the universe ease waves of pressure and discontent by listening to the subtle voice of the inner self.
  • The Lunar Eclipse presents an opportunity to travel more deeply into the inner self. Think of it as walking into the light and reconstructing life into a higher form. Meditation and reflection are needed to accomplish this task, but the universe is sending light to help us on the path.

Sabian Symbols, based on Lynda Hill’s book and work

Sun is on Leo 5, “Rock Formations Towering over a Deep Canyon.” Rock formations could refer to structures of structures of the past or the time element of the planet. Either way, one has to wait and standstill while waiting for help, or climb down into the chasm and/or void.

In the spiritual world, this is known as taking a leap into the unknown, a way of letting go of safe structures and leaning on faith. (On the positive, it can also refer to the power needed to descend into the unknown.)

Moon is on Aquarius 5, “A Council of Ancestors Has Been Called to Guide a Man.” The symbol could refer to wise individuals who found truth and direction in another time – or it could speak of the necessity of following guidance from times past. On another level, it can refer to the strength of genetic ancestors, which lies in our DNA, and may act as a supportive force. (Guides also exist on a purely spiritual level.)

Mercury is on Leo 24, “Totally Concentrated upon Spiritual Attainment, A Yogi is Sitting in a State of Neglect.” The symbol calls attention to the importance of focus and listening to the inner self for true attainment. It also asks for balance between the spiritual and physical worlds.

Venus sits on Virgo 20, “A Caravan of Cars Headed for the Promised Land.” Venus offers substantial support in this chart, indicating help from the universe when we move into a state of love. The caravan of cars relates to the concept of the availability of higher dimensions for those who are spiritually aligned.

Mars is retrograde on Aquarius 4, “A Hindu Healer Glows with a Mystic Power”. This symbol refers to action on the inner as opposed to outer level. The “glow” comes from the light within. At some point, all seekers discover that the light of universe is a wonderful balm, which heals problems in the outer world.

Jupiter is on Scorpio 14, “Telephone Linesman at Work Installing New Connections”. It’s a wonderful symbol that suggests new ways of connecting intuitively and developing communications, which come from the heart.
