Harmonious, focused energies are delivered by the New Moon on May 30, and the forecast is beautiful—almost a reflection of the brilliant flowers and beauty of late spring. It’s the opposite of the abrupt, confused feelings brought by eclipses, which accompanied the May’s previous new and full moons. (It’s wonderful to write about this New Moon!)

Sun and Moon are placed in Gemini, an air sign, which rules social events, expression of thought, all forms of communication, siblings, and short journeys. Symbolized by twins, Gemini asks for discernment between higher and low thought. On the sublime level, Gemini rules the higher mind that receives transmissions from the inner self. Sun/Moon in Gemini aid with visualization and imagination as related to the expression of the heart’s desires.

Sun in Gemini encourages new perceptions, a sense of inventiveness, and experimentation with new and different mental viewpoints. Sun sextile Mars (male, assertion) increases physical vitality, strength, and self-confidence. Sun sextile Jupiter (good fortune, expansion) brings optimism, expansion, and promotes the realization of dreams and desires.

The Moon is sometimes seen as a mirror that reflects emotions and thoughts—and how they color our creation of life. Moon in Gemini increases thought, perception, and emotion. It moves very quickly, which may cause anxiety or feelings of overwhelm. On another level, it urges connection with the inner self before communicating or making decisions.

Moon sextile Mars (assertion, action) amplifies courage, passion, and success with the accomplishment of desires. It increases social ease. Moon sextile Jupiter (expansion) gives cheerfulness and confidence; it aids the ability to listen and speak wisely with others.

Mercury is retrograde in Taurus, which leads to persistent and practical thoughts. It also helps with communicating and feeling the earth.  Mercury moves direct on June 3, but it squares retrograde Saturn on June 4. The aspect can cause negative thinking and a sense of heaviness. The tension between the two planets creates a short period of pause until Mercury moves away from Saturn (karma, limitation). It’s best to refrain from strong action for a few days. Mercury squares Jupiter (expansion) gives positive feelings about many aspects of life, but it’s also easy to overlook details, particularly through poor communication. Take time to review plans before taking actions and don’t sign contracts.

Venus (feminine, love, beauty) in Taurus is stable, secure, and sensual. In this placement, life seems more beautiful, and love becomes more accessible. Venus in Taurus heightens awareness of the beauty of nature—the magic of physical life. It increases our ability to accumulate abundance. Venus square Pluto (subconscious, transformation) brings intensity to relationships along with the desire to control and/or manipulate them. It can also deepen emotions, increase passion, and the ability to transcend and transform emotion.

Mars (assertion) in Aries gives strength, boldness, and power to move through obstacles. It gives determination and can aid in finishing projects and creating desires. It enhances our power to move through stopping points and limitations. Mars conjunct Jupiter (expansion) gives physical vitality and endurance. It aids with new endeavors and gives strength to successfully achieve goals. Mars conjunct Neptune (mysticism, idealism) brings a strange, magical energy that can help with intuition and insight. It can also increase over-sensitivity and the tendency to indulge in illusionary aspects of life. Mars sextile Pluto (subconscious, transformation) gives stamina, endurance, and physical vitality. (See it as a burst of energy) It propels us through inertia and non-action into powerful action and realization.

Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) in Aries is powerful, bold, and dynamic, and it brings ease to life, aiding with the fulfillment of desires and the achievement of goals. Jupiter conjunct Neptune (mysticism, illusion) offers a specific spiritual influence that can bring alignment with the inner self and deepen work with mystical studies. Jupiter sextile Pluto (underworld, transformation) may give success through its positive influence. Open to opportunities and help from others.

Saturn (karma, limitation) in Aquarius moves into its five-month retrograde on June 4. When Saturn retrogrades, it’s a time to look at the foundations, limitations, and structures in life. It’s important to know if they are supportive—or if they need to shift and change.

Neptune (mysticism, illusion) sextile Pluto (subconscious, transformation), combines dreams and imagination with cycles of creation and destruction. There’s also a mystical connection with collective consciousness along with a sensation of awareness of its ebb and flow. It can aid with seeing and projecting harmony in the world.

Tips

  • It’s a beautiful chart with strong, well-placed energies. Sun (life) and Moon (emotions) in Gemini encourages social endeavors and short communications, but it’s important to connect with the inner self—and stay aligned—before moving into the outer expression of the sign. Take time for stillness, meditation, and stillness. Listen to the inner self.
  • Mercury (communication) in Taurus is a bit slow and plodding, but it helps with feeling grounded and enjoying the beauty of the earth, which is spectacular in late spring. Mercury moves direct on June 3, but the square with Saturn delays moving forward with dreams and ideas until June 6 or 7.
  • Venus (love, beauty) in Taurus can give warmth and steadiness to relationships. It aligns the heart with beauty and can uplift the soul.
  • Mars (activity, assertion) in Aries is powerful and helps with fulfilling desires, staying on track, and completing tasks. It also gives self-confidence.
  • Jupiter (expansion) is in Aries, and it is dynamic, encouraging our inner and outer quests.
  • Neptune (mysticism, idealism) sextile Pluto (subconscious, transformation) gives a mystical connection with collective consciousness. It’s helpful to imagine collective connection through the heart—and to make an effort to see the light in others.
