“Lady Midnight” by Christian Schloe
Despite gray skies and days that darken early in the evening, the light is growing. Each day is a few moments longer, and the shift into positive energies becomes apparent with January’s New Moon.
The New Moon on January 21 is on the first degree of Aquarius, marking a time when the moon is the closest to the earth in 1,000 years. Although the New Moon tends to effectively quieten the energies, this Moon is special and uplifting.
With Sun (life) and Moon (emotions) in Aquarius, it marks the coming of the Aquarian Age with humanitarian values, a quieter mind, and deeper understanding of energy at large. It’s an opportunity to use mental power with unconditional love—and to see the earth in a new way. (Visualization is a powerful tool, particularly when “many” see good and beauty in the world. Pull the mind away from negativity and focus on what you’d prefer to see and feel.)
It’s the first moon in months with Mars (action) direct, Mercury (thought is also direct), and Uranus turns direct on January 22—when all planets are direct until April. Essentially, we receive the burst of energy and resolution normally experienced at the New Year. It’s time to take a new step and see life from a different and new perspective.
As the child of Aquarian parents, I know Aquarius is a sign that longs for a better, kinder world for everyone. (Aquarians may be a little weird and offbeat, but their underlying philosophy is beautiful.) With Sun, Moon, and Venus (love, relationships) in Aquarius, and there is a growing awareness of the potential of the new energies such as rapid communication, group endeavors, spiritual connection on a quantum level, and individual changes, which benefit the group. (It takes energy, determination, and passion to change, and the New Age calls for it on a continual basis.)
Sun (life) trine Mars (assertiveness, physical energy) gives the ability to pursue dreams that lead to fulfillment. It heightens creativity and passion. Sun sextile Jupiter (expansion, growth) increases confidence, good luck, and optimism. Sun conjunct Pluto (underworld, transformation) gives physical strength, spiritual power, and the ability to regenerate.
Moon trine Mars aligns emotion, passion, and action. Moon sextile Jupiter (expansion) aligns emotions in a positive sense and bring feelings of confidence. Moon conjunct Pluto (underworld, transformation) heightens and intensifies emotion by bringing buried emotion to the surface.
Mercury (thought, communications) is placed in Capricorn where it is practical and slower than usual. Mercury squares Jupiter (expansion, good luck), placing tension between our thoughts and expansive outcomes-. (We may seek an expansive outcome, but our thoughts are only beginning to support the necessary changes.) Mercury trines Uranus (sudden change, quantum field), which increases the ability to perceive higher spiritual concepts and mysteries. It can also mark the union of the higher and lower mind, which is awakening.
Venus (love, relationships) in Aquarius seeks unconditional love and freedom while longing for a better world. Venus conjuncts Saturn (time, karma), indicating a time of applying past lessons and finding new structures and/or beginnings in life. Venus square Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) may expand unstable emotion, particularly in loving relationships. The aspect tends to give a desire for freedom from limiting circumstances, and the energy can be reactive.
Mars (assertion, action) in Gemini begins anew after a long retrograde. Combine action and rapid thought for the full picture of this placement. Quick thought and a desire for action don’t mix, and the best solution is taking time out for meditation, walks, and reflection on the One/All. In this place, we find right action and thought as it leads to the heart where wisdom is found.
Jupiter (expansion) in Aries is brave and bold. It compels us in the direction of new steps in search of expansion. With no aspects, we’re waiting for the right space to move forward.
Saturn (limitation, time) is moving through Aquarius before taking its place in Pisces. The long-standing square between Saturn and Uranus–which has caused contention–is ending, Hopefully, the shift will create a more peaceful place in the outer world.
Neptune (mysticism, illusion) trines Pluto (subconscious, transformation), indicating a time when we are particularly open to spiritual and mysterious truths. It’s an excellent time for study and meditation.
Tips:
- It’s time to dream, act, and create a new future. The planets are all direct, and we create a new life. The chart urges us to dream of a better, more humanitarian world. Focus on the highest and best possibilities,
- The world is sleeping, and it doesn’t want to awaken. Think of enjoying a deep, dreamless sleep. Think of someone gently shaking and speaking to you. It’s doesn’t feel good, and you want them to go away. That’s the vibration of mass consciousness. As the vision of awakened consciousness becomes stronger, the world frequency will heighten. It’s a work in progress. Stay patient.
- Everyone can change patterns and perceptions. We do this by creating strong images in the subjective (inner) world. It’s important to point out that we’re becoming more intuitive. As a result, we feel the resistance of others more. It can feel like a punch, anger, or depression. It’s helpful to ask if the energy is coming from you or someone else.
- When life feels strange, pull the energy back into you. We often project (or connect with) an energetic overlay without recognizing our involvement. Project pink light and reflect on the heart. A higher frequency changes our experience of “reality.”

Oh Julia, this is all so uplifting. I see the light shining up ahead. The Wolves message is playing out in my life too. Thank you so much for showing me I am not alone in how I feel.
You’re so welcome, Belinda. Glad we are on the same path!
Thank you Julia! I have shared your guidance with a broad group of spiritual people as well. Namaste, Rob
