The Falling Leaves Moon or Harvest Moon appears on Saturday, October 10 at 5:59 pm ET. This Full Moon marks a time of celebrating the yield of summer, the gathering of crops. It’s also the closest moon to the equinox when the seasons turn, and this particular moon appears early in the evening for several days. (We’ll feel the energy of the Full Moon for approximately 7-10 days.)

Mysterious, spiritual vibrations accompany this moon with Sun (life) in Virgo and Moon (emotion) in Pisces. Virgo is the sign of the Virgin and High Priestess, the keeper of esoteric secrets. Virgo holds the power to heal, discover medicines, and achieving spiritual alignment in the physical world through awareness of the body, positive patterns, and habits. Moon in Pisces gives emotional connection and greater access to the subconscious and mystical secrets. Pisces flows everywhere like the sea, increasing the likelihood of intuitive connection, deepened emotion, and waves of insight.

Sun trines Uranus (quantum field, sudden change) and Moon sextiles Uranus. Trines are harmonious, and the aspect encourages embracing our unique qualities by briefly moving out of routines and considering new aspects of life. It also heightens intuition and opens the mind. Moon sextile Uranus opens life to change and realizations from the intuitive mind. (Uranus is change and spiritual realization; the aspects can open our consciousness to the possibility of a new and better life.)

Sun (life), Moon (emotions), and Venus (love) square Mars (action, assertion). Sun square Mars increases competitiveness and desire to succeed. It’s important to have boundaries—and to refrain from listening to the ego. Focus on win/win solutions. Moon square Mars heightens irritable emotions and temper; it also makes desires (even passing ones) seem more important. Venus square Mars tends to increase anger and lack of self-control. It’s important to remain patient and rely on self-control.

Sun opposes Neptune (mysticism, illusion), bringing the possibility of deceit and confusion. It can also come as a time for reflection and spiritual growth. Moon (emotion) conjunct Neptune increases sensitivity, awareness, and spiritual consciousness. Sun trine Pluto (transformation, subconscious) heightens our power and strength, particularly with influencing others—hopefully to a more positive point. It gives clarity and strength with career as well as energy to fulfill ambitions.

Mercury (communications, mind) moved into retrograde on September 9 and will remain retro through October 1, and it slows the flow of life. In general, life slows down, and it takes longer than usual to complete tasks. At the moment, Mercury is in Libra (relationships, art, balance), and, it’s important to focus harmony in relationships.

Mercury trines Mars (assertion, male) fortuitously increases concentration, mental ability, and decisiveness for the next several days.  Mercury opposes Jupiter (good fortune, expansion) brings creative, good ideas, ability to plan, and a feeling of optimism.

Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are in retrograde, which may give the feeling of moving in slow motion—or conversely, needing more energy than usual to complete tasks. Patience, perseverance, and visualizing completion of tasks may help with creating results.

Venus (love, relationships) in Virgo can cause us to act in a critical, judgmental manner. Avoid this by staying in the heart space and meditating on the positive feelings that accompany the gift of love. Venus squares Mars (assertion, male), which heightens passion, impatience, and can cause small conflicts in relationships.

Mars (assertion, male energy) is in Gemini, an air sign, until January 12. The placement puts emphasis on communication and words. Mars sextiles Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) brings courage, strength, and good fortune. It helps with completing tasks. Mars trine Saturn (karma, past) gives passion, determination, and success with projects and desires

Jupiter (good fortune, expansion) in Aries asks for boldness and passion when exploring and achieving goals. It increases ambition and encourages growth, particularly with new endeavors and ideas. It speeds our pace in life and urges daring and brave ventures in life.

Saturn (karma, limitation, past) is in Aquarius. The square with Uranus (New Age, sudden change) remains throughout the year. It creates conflict between opposites such as conversative/liberal, old/new, and with different viewpoints as well. Aquarius controls electronics, and we may make decisions about how much information we want or don’t want share via internet and other sources. The square heightens these conflicts.

Uranus (New Age, sudden change) is in Taurus, an earth sign, which suggest the importance of the earth—its beauty and resources. Uranus sextiles Neptune (mysticism, illusion), which suggests the importance of finding answers through the inner self, particularly in the sphere of philosophy and metaphysics. It also asks for examination of electronics and its relationship with the self and personal growth. Uranus trines Pluto (subconscious, transformation) brings an evolutionary change within the self that gives greater understanding and depth.

Summary

Many spiritual aspects are found in the chart, which can hasten personal evolution and spiritual connection. The lunar cycle on the Virgo/Pisces cusp opens consciousness to higher spiritual emotions and the need to express spirituality in daily, physical life. Aspects with Sun (life), Moon (emotion), and Uranus (new age, sudden change) can give spiritual breakthroughs.

There are also frustrations and irritations from Mars (assertion, action), which can cause anxiety and anger, but we can choose to alter our emotions and expectations of outcomes.

Mercury is retrograde for approximately one month, which marks a time of slowing down—particularly with Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto in retrograde. Patience is an important part of spiritual work, and retrogrades are often a test.
