The New Moon appears on June 28 at 10:52 pm ET. It’s the second New Moon of the month, which is known as a Black Moon. The New Moon is the time of void–for dreams of the future and making plans. As the moon waxes, it expands the forms of our emotions and thoughts, bringing them into physical form.

With Sun and Moon in Cancer, the emphasis is on emotion. A dreamy quality is also found in the chart as Neptune (mysticism, illusion) moves into retrograde. Neptune clouds the logical mind and is often misleading; however, it teaches us to rely on intuitive answers.

Sun and Moon are in Cancer, a feminine water sign. Cancer rules the sea; it represents the mother, home, and flow of emotion. In metaphysics, emotion is the quality that colors manifestation. It’s equally important as the desire for it determines how the outcome feels. With Sun and Moon in Cancer, we learn about observing emotion, expressing boundaries clearly, and expressing emotion to create harmony and peace.

Sun and Moon square Jupiter, bringing enthusiasm, agitation, and a tendency for extravagance. Sun square Jupiter may cause over-estimation of our ability to fulfill and complete tasks.  It also brings limitations and small obstacles, which slow our progress. Through strong focus and projection of calm, peaceful energy, it’s possible to move forward with our goals. create progress through small steps. (Aspects with the Sun/Moon are relatively brief.)

Moon (emotion) square Jupiter (expansion, luck) brings positive emotions, a sense of well-being, and a desire to avoid drama. Changeable moods, events, and feelings accompany this aspect as the moon affects emotions. There’s a tendency for excess and impulsive action.

Mercury (mind) in Gemini is brilliant, quick, and versatile. It’s an excellent placement for communication, writing, and marketing. Mercury trine Saturn (limitation, karma, time) calls on memories, mistakes, and lessons to overcome limitations, relating to self-expression. Mercury square Neptune (illusion, mysticism) tends to blur our perception of reality, causing difficulty with focus. Alternately, it can heighten the connection between our mind and the Divine—particularly through meditation. (The intuition mind is strong with this aspect, but the logical mind can seem vague or cloudy.)

Venus (feminine, relationships, love) in Gemini encourages communication with others, deepens relationships, and acts as a positive, light force at a generally “heavy” time. It lessens anxiety and helps with communicating thoughts that originate in the heart. Venus sextile Jupiter (good fortune, expansion) bestows good luck, gifts, happiness, and generosity. Venus trine Pluto (subconscious, transformation) intensifies passion, emotion, and energy in life.

Mars (action, male) remains in Aries, a fire sign, igniting initiative, action, and desire. Courage, energy, and strength are associated with this placement. Mars sextile Saturn (limitation, karma) aids in regulating energy, moving in the direction of goals, and success—particularly with difficult and detailed tasks. Mars square Pluto (subconscious, transformation) is generally destabilizing with disruptive events and volatile energy, particularly in the outer world. For personal growth, it’s important to seek the hidden patterns and reasons that limit self-growth and success. Extend awareness and observe emotions and actions.

Jupiter in Aries is bold and strong, indicating a deep desire to take action and create forward motion in life. The sign of Aries represents new beginnings, expansion into new ideas, and the inception of new desires. Jupiter rules expansion, and its placement in Aries gives space for new beginnings, perceptions, and a new understanding of life.

Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) in Taurus asks us to place our attention on Earth and to find connection with fauna, flora, and the creatures of the natural world. A great power lies hidden within nature—if we take the time to find and connect with it.

Neptune (mysticism, illusion) sextile Pluto (subconscious, transformation), which extends to 2032, indicates the possibility of joining the superconscious of many, enlightened individuals to elicit change.

Notes

  1. It’s not the beautiful chart presented with the last full moon, but there are many positive possibilities if we pursue them. Sun/Moon in Cancer heightens emotion, the value of home life, and the meaning of boundaries. (Love has boundaries.) When Sun and Moon are in Cancer, emotions and sensitivity are heightened—including feelings of vulnerability. Emotion is experienced in waves with peaks and valleys. It ebbs and flows.
  2. Sun/Moon square Jupiter (expansion) brings changes in mood, excess enthusiasm, and a tendency to take on too much work, activity, etc. Limitations and tension accompany these squares, but personal insight can help with conquering them.
  3. Mercury (mind) in Gemini is quick and facile. It aids with self-expression and communication.
  4. Venus (love, relationships) in Gemini releases anxiety and brings a sense of lightness and joy. Venus sextile Jupiter (good fortune) gives good luck and happiness.
  5. Mars (action, male) aids with energy levels, action, and achieving desires.
  6. Many planets are retrograde, which is part of the motion of summer energy and relaxation.
