The New Moon occurs on April 17. It’s part of a series of New Moons, which are closer than usual to the earth, which amplifies its characteristics, including releasing old patterns, letting of what no longer serves us, and introverted or contracted energy. It can also serve as a void, a place of pause and contemplation.
The New Moon features a stellium, a cluster of three or more planets in the same house or sign. In this chart, seven planets are placed in Aries, the sign that marks the beginning of the astrological wheel—and new beginnings in life. Think of it as rocket fuel, a powerful blast of energy that can act as an opportunity to recreate our lives. (In the past month, I’ve noticed many people have a strong feeling about the future and who they should become. Despite this, everyone seems to move back and forth from the old self into the new one. They experience happiness when connected to the new self, but connection with the old self brings a feeling of disappointment or heaviness. and the energies of the New Moon can help with this.)
Sun (life), Moon (emotion), and Chiron (wounded healer) are placed on Aries 28, “A Large Disappointed Audience”, which may feel appropriate; however, we create change through our dreams, desires, and visions. Chiron is aligned with the Sun and Moon, and its energy suggests greater awareness and understanding of the self will support change. If we want a different reality, we must work on our own consciousness by seeing, sensing, and feeling the world that we want to inhabit. Sun and Moon square Pluto (subconscious, transformation), intensifying subconscious patterns, emotions, and power struggles. By taking a clear look at feelings and emotions, we can pause, contemplate, and transform these aspects of life.
Mercury (communication, electronics) in Aries, which quickens the mind, conjuncts Mars (assertion, overall energy). The conjunction makes it likely that we act quickly on our thoughts, and Mercury conjunct Saturn (limitation, time) adds a focus on mental serious work. Mercury conjunct Neptune (mysticism, idealism), which can open the door to mysticism, magic, and meditation but can also cause confusion. It’s wise to pause and discern before taking the next step.
Venus (relationships, art, love) in Taurus, an earth sign, brings beautiful, sensual energy. (It’s a good time for picnics, long walks, and gardening.) Venus conjunct Uranus (change, quantum field) can bring sudden changes, emotions, and surprises. It encourages independence and authenticity.
Mars (assertion, overall energy) is placed in Aries. It exudes courage, passion, and speed when used correctly. On the negative, it can exemplify impulsive and competitive behavior. (Mars was the Roman god of war, and Ares was the Greek god of war.) Mars conjunct Saturn (limitation, karma) creates intensity and pressure and/or delays and frustration. Through patience and calm, it’s possible to work through it. Mars conjunct Neptune (illusion, mysticism) gives high energy mixed with illusions, confusion, and irritability. It can aid creativity and spiritual energy.
Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) in Cancer focuses on the home and domestic matters. Jupiter squares Saturn (karma, limitation) gives significant shifts in politics and power structures. Jupiter square Chiron (wounded healer) causes tension between the desire for growth and insecurities from the past. Expansion in life depends on overcoming the emotional and psychological issues, which relate to old wounds.
Saturn (limitation, karma) in Aries focuses on disciplined action. Saturn conjunct Neptune (illusion, mysticism) holds the possibility of a new spiritual structure within the world as well as dissolving old social/political structures.
Uranus (sudden change, quantum field), Neptune (illusion, mysticism), and Pluto (subconscious, transformation) continue to present a magical window through trines and sextiles, which helps in aligning with the spiritual field of consciousness.
