New Moon: Time to Recalibrate

October’s New Moon brings fruitfulness with the motion of flowing trees, blue lakes, and bright, changing color of the mountains. With Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn in air signs, it’s the time to dream of harvests—the fruit of the soul and personal effort. (Air rules the mind, and the mind works best when united with the heart, which is the keeper of true vision.)

Think of butterflies, birds, and hummingbirds that navigate through breezes, storms, and fluctuations of the wind. Likely, we’ll move in many directions for the next week or two; yet, we choose our destination through the focus of mind and spirit.

The New Moon on October 6 is a time of recalibration, involving inner work and a new vision of the future self. It’s a time to dream of action although it is a very passive time with several planets in retrograde, including Mercury—which brings motion of life to a halt.

With Sun (life), Moon (emotions), Mercury (mind), and Mars (action) in Libra, we can move deeply into the loveliness of life. There’s an emphasis on beauty, creativity, and harmony. We create harmony by observing where life is out of balance and by making adjustments. (It’s helpful to contemplate the perfect day with a balance between meditation, work, relaxation, and time spent in nature. With the increasing energy of the feminine, there’s an increased need for both stillness and action.)

Sun, Moon, and Mercury are conjunct, allowing deep communication between the outer self, emotion, and the inner mind. Sun, Moon, and Mercury conjunct Mars (action), meaning our outer actions can align more easily with life, mind, and emotion

Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Mars trine Jupiter, the planet of good fortune.  Trines with Jupiter are harmonious, bestowing balance, good luck, and optimism. Sun trine Jupiter brings opportunities for spiritual, personal, and material growth. Moon trine Jupiter lifts emotions, increases happiness and encourages positivity in relationships. Mercury trine Jupiter aids with organization and planning the future. Mars trine Jupiter heightens self-confidence and decisiveness.

Sun, Moon, and Mars trine Saturn (limitation, karma, structure). Saturn is also Father Time, representing the lessons learned throughout life along with the perseverance, dedication, and commitment necessary to overcome earthly bonds. Through wisdom, we look at the past and apply the lessons to the present and future. (Positive aspects with Saturn also benefit organization and the creation of structure for the future). Sun trine Saturn indicates a time of achievement and recognition. Moon trine Saturn gives emotional strength, patience, and the ability to overcome problems in domestic life. Mars trine Saturn accelerates strength and persistence to complete tasks and stay aligned with goals.

Mercury (communications, travel, mind) is retrograde in Libra (air sign), which slows motion, completion, and (temporarily) the realization of desires. It’s important to think about our true nature and the best forms of expression, which align with the heart. With this end in mind, we can weigh the value of various designs and directions in life. Mercury squares Pluto (subconscious, transformation); it relates to obsessiveness with specific ideas and lack of openness to other or new possibilities.

Venus (love, relationships) in Scorpio is intense, magnetic, and emotion. Venus squares Jupiter with desires for self-indulgence, impulsiveness, and deepening bonds with others. Venus trines Neptune (illusion, mysticism), enabling a connection with divine and the ability to intuit hidden spiritual truths. The aspect also heightens universal, unconditional love.

Jupiter (good fortune, expansion) and Saturn (limitation, karma) are placed in Aquarius, and they square Uranus, the planet of sudden change. The square with Uranus causes tension and agitation. It can also open our consciousness to new possibilities.

We may experience a huge desire to move ahead with our dreams and commitments, but it’s not quite the time. Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Mars oppose (180 degrees) Chiron, the wounded healer, and they also oppose Midheaven, the height of our personal/group spiritual quest.

It’s a time to recalibrate by taking a deep look at ourselves and life. Perhaps, our inner self has a different take on our goals and dreams—or a better viewpoint of how we see ourselves.

Notes

  • The New Moon is the time for planning for the ensuing 28-day moon cycle, releasing what Is not needed, and connecting with the unseen world to find our way. When we cannot see clearly in the dark, we go within to discover new knowledge and methods of moving through life.
  • The chart speaks of contemplation and self-observation as a deeper method of choosing one’s course through life. It’s time to feel the direction of our inner, spiritual destiny, but it’s not time to act on it.
  • Saturn (limitation, karma, structure) and Pluto (subconscious, transformation) will become direct this week and aid in moving life in the direction of goals and dreams. However, the outcome of action is limited with Mercury retrograde, and it’s wise to make plans for later in the month or early November as opposed to the current moon phase.
  • Positive trines are found throughout the chart, and they can uplift the spirit, heighten optimism, and encourage personal, spiritual, and career growth. The aspects are wonderful for long-term planning and completing projects.

New Moon, Powerful but Odd Energy

The New Moon appears on August 8 at 9:50 am. It marks the Lion’s Gate, a time of receiving solar energy and fire. Typically, the New Moon is a quiet time for inner reflection. This month, the New Moon exerts pressure, encourages change, and asks for a clear look at our present and future.

It’s a challenging chart with a wide range of energies. There are creative, fiery energies and opportunities to succeed in outer life. Limitations in relationships and self-esteem also present themselves as well as healing energies. It’s up to us to read and respond to the energy as best we can. (Many planets aspect Uranus, which can cause disruption with electronics.)

Sun, Moon, and Mercury are in Leo, which brings beautiful and intensely creative energy. Leo rules the heart; it is symbolized by the lion. It enhances confidence and power. It aids with acting on our deeper desires and activates self-expression.

A strong T-square appears in the chart, causing tension and pressure. T-squares cause pressure to create change. When we feel tension, metaphysics tells us to go within, observe our environment and life habits and sense what needs changing.

On another level, the earth and our outer world are changing. The universe speaks to us through dreams and intuition to urge us to take part in the shifting of the ages. When we listen through our heart and take actions based on this information, we alter our lives and become part of a positive shift.

Sun/Moon conjunct Mercury (thought) enhances our ability to express our deeper thoughts and longings. Our moods and desires in life can find new expression, and creativity is heighted. All three signs are placed in fire, which heightens creativity and the desire for new outlets of expression.

Sun (life) and Moon (mood/emotion) oppose Saturn in Aquarius.  It’s a bit like a cloudy, dark day. Wait a few hours or days, and the sun will return illuminating the beauty of the world. The two aspects can cause life to feel heavy or oppressive, particularly as a result of the past. We may feel moody with the impression that our efforts are not creating results. (It’s not true. See it as if the sun is behind a cloud, when it

Sun and Moon square Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) can cause nervousness and tension. We can feel and anticipate changes on the horizon, but we can’t identify them (yet). It’s important to focus on desirable changes. Meditation and inner work can also help with the odd energies.

Mercury in Leo & New Perspectives

Mercury (thought, communication) in Leo confers confidence, bold thinking, and big goals. It encourages self-expression and heightens persuasive skills.

Mercury opposes Jupiter, which can bring big ideas, desires, and optimism. It’s a good time to examine old beliefs, thoughts, and patters while dreaming up a better future. Dreams and desires are likely in alignment with a more desirable future.

Mercury squares Uranus (sudden change/quantum field) encourages a new perspective and outlook on life. It’s important to curb impulsiveness and look at the details, but it definitely encourages growth and a wider view of life. (The aspect may negatively impact electronics.)

Venus & Relationships

Venus (love, art, feminine) in Virgo trines Uranus (sudden change, quantum field), enlarges our desire for expansion, the unusual, and a break from the mundane. There’s a strong desire for adventure and creativity. It’s important to express ourselves in a new way.

Venus in opposition to Neptune (mysticism, idealism) heightens sensitivity and makes love relationships more difficult. People tend to take advantage of our caring, giving qualities. It’s best to focus on self-improvement and self-love.

Venus trine Pluto (underworld, transformation) intensifies energy, drive, and passion. Venus also influences and improves finances. It enhances the power and concentration needed for manifestation.

Opportunities to Pursue

Mars in Virgo brings a sense of practicality and attention to detail. It likes focus on goals and improvement in life. It also increases health and vitality. (Avoid over-analyzing and focus on positive changes that include a healthier lifestyle.) Mars (energy, male) opposes Jupiter, which can bring a desire for success along with increased self-confidence

Mars trine Uranus sharpens intuition and inner knowledge. It gives boldness and confidence, particularly with new projects and endeavors. The aspect confers a new method of self-expression and a desire for creativity. In general, instincts and intuition are strengthened by the aspect. Listen to your inner self and take a new step into success. Fulfill your inner longings.

Saturn square Uranus

Saturn (karma, limitation) in Aquarius squares Uranus (quantum field, sudden change) in Taurus. This aspect extends throughout the year. It’s a play of energies, which may partially represent the cost of an electronic world on our physical being. (The moon voyages and space age brought frozen or dried meals with preservatives and poor nutrition.) It’s not great to sit at a computer all day or experience exposure to 5G waves or satellites. The earth is not keen to have more electrical lines, cables, oil drilling, or devastation of species.  It’s up to us to learn from the aspect and create a world that is more in harmony with nature. (Visualizing helps.)

A Good Time for Healing

In Greek mythology, Chiron was depicted as a centaur, often with a child on his back. The symbolism refers to the wounding and subsequent healing of the inner child, and his/her newly found ability to travel through the world and take in the sights with wonder and joy.  Part of the inner work with Chiron revolves around freeing our inner child—and creating a new perspective of life.

The following aspects with Chiron offer a positive time for healing the inner child and outer self. Sun/Moon trine Chiron, the wounded healer, helps with moving beyond old wounding, disillusionment, and bitterness to find the brighter path of our destiny. It activates wisdom, compassion, and understanding of deeper patterns. The aspect enlarges our will and our desire to live a good and meaningful life.

Saturn sextile Chiron increases our awareness of how the victim or wounded one inflicts their hurt on others., This aspect heightens our ability to see the pattern and free ourselves from these types of outcomes.

Planet Retrograde

Jupiter (expansion, good luck), Saturn (limitation), Neptune (mysticism, illusion) and Pluto (subconscious, transformation) and Chiron (wounded healer) are in retrograde. Retrograde is a more passive motion as the planets do not touch us directly with their energy. It can make efforts feel difficult, and it can take more energy to move in a new direction.

These retrogrades occur every year, and, perhaps, they indicate the initial struggle that all new plans and improvements involve. We are usually sore when we exercise, lack knowledge with new studies, and create adjustments and changes in schedule when we alter our living arrangements. It’s a motion with which we become familiar as we move through life.

New Moon Forecast

The stars are bright in the dark velvet sky at the time of the New Moon on February 11 when we reach a pause—a stillness in the cycle that rules seas, emotions, and the patterns of expansion/contraction on earth. At this time, we move into the void before moving into another cycle of lunar light and darkness.

Like branches on a tree or the sounds of birds in air, there is movement everywhere like winds blowing from several directions at once. Aspects with air influence the mind, thought, and communication, and they change and alter with Uranus’s influence—with its up and down oscillation, a ride on a Ferris wheel that can be uplifting or exhausting. (The feelings and outcome are affected by our consciousness, karma, and thoughts, which alter the turn of the wheel.)

With six planets in Aquarius, it’s an airy forecast for the New Moon. Air rules the mind, visuals, the conception and repetition of thought. The sign of Aquarius influences humanitarian issues, brilliant insights, the collective, and also fixed views of life. Many planets placed in Aquarius square Uranus (sudden change, quantum field) create tension and an erratic feeling, but Uranus also rules the higher mind, and it prefers shifts into expanded consciousness.

One of the most beneficial, astrological aspects—Venus (love) conjunct Jupiter (expansion)—is found in the chart. It acts as a reminder that any state of love—personal, universal, or the marvelous feeling, which comes with connection—can mitigate the strange Aquarian energy. Love brings us into present, it opens the heart, and it allows us to receive answers for the universe. Beyond this, it lifts our consciousness into a higher frequency where “reality” responds in a better way. It’s another way of connecting with the quantum field.

The squares between Sun (life), Moon (emotions), Mercury (communications), and Venus (love) and Mars (action, male) tend to exert pressure but fail to give clear answers and direction. It’s helpful to know the frustrating and semi-conscious frustration subside when the planets move into a different geometry in a few weeks. For the moment, it’s wise to prioritize actions that align with the soul and creating a better physical reality as they provide answers and energies that come from within the self—and don’t alternate with the “weather”. (Temporary upsets are normal at this time. The trick is finding the part of the self who remains calm and connected; answers tend to come in a place of stillness.)

Mercury remains in retrograde in Aquarius until February 21, adding to the mix of changing thoughts and subconscious projections. It can take our thoughts back into the past, reviving old patterns and forgotten feelings. Mercury retro can bring confusion, or it can lead to clarity that old perceptions are not necessarily true. Again, much of the challenge is about circumventing the chaos of the lower mind by tapping into universal messages and truths.

Mercury (thought), Venus (love), Jupiter (expansion), and Saturn (limitation) in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus. Uranus is the place of the quantum field and sudden dynamic change. Squares create pressure, and these squares ask for plans for the future. They also ask for a clear gaze at the issues and thoughts that hold us back from our inner perfection and the expression of our gifts. The higher collective of humanity rises when we express new thoughts through our inner gifts. (Mars and Uranus are in earth signs, indicating that some of the answers may come from connection with the earth.)

Mars (action, male) trines Pluto (subconscious, transformation). Trines are harmonious, bringing energies together in a helpful, supportive way. The aspect heightens determination and courage; it builds intention. It teaches the right use of power and can create opportunities for expression and action.

Overall, it’s a time of confusing change. The mind tends to move from one topic to another with less focus than usual. Squares with Mars and Uranus cause tension and mild upset. Mercury retrograde adds confusion. However, Venus (love) conjunct Jupiter tells us to go into the heart and focus on love. Mars (action) trine Pluto gives courage and determination to stay on the path and seek right actions.

Tips

  1. The stellium–a group of planets in one sign such as the six planets in Aquarius—creates erratic thoughts, tension, and a focus on future. Thoughts may swing wildly from one subject and/or project to the next.
  2. Grounding helps. Spend time with the earth. Notice the sky, the shape of trees, and the movement of the clouds. Walk when possible.
  3. It’s important to stay focused, and Mars trine Pluto can give the strength and determination to move into our next phase of being.
  4. It’s okay to feel confused, lose things, or feel distracted. Meditate daily to achieve a clear mind.
  5. Whenever possible, stay in the heart. It’s one of the answers to the energy in the New Moon chart.

Planetary Change: New Moon and Eclipse

The New Moon appears on Monday, December 14 at 11:16 am, and it’s accompanied by a solar eclipse that begins at 11:38 am ET. Eclipses bring change along with a feeling of a “reset”; it’s helpful to meditate before an eclipse and think about positive events and a place of higher consciousness. (Also, it’s okay to feel out of balance for a day or two after the eclipse. It can take time to readjust.)

The New Moon marks the beginning of a new cycle of energy, making it a good time for inner contemplation. The chart focuses on aspirations, dreams, and manifestations, but there is a significant emphasis on moving through illusion (Neptune) and finding the inner strength to move through karma (Saturn.) Many of the planets are placed in fire, which can bring spiritual inspiration or a flare of emotion. Sun, Moon, and Mercury sit in Sagittarius, a fire sign that symbolizes the “quest”, courage, frankness, and impatience. Sagittarius is a mutable sign and can move into many—sometimes too many—directions at once.

The challenge of the New Moon chart lies in remaining optimistic while seeing the truth about others and life. On a larger scale, we may love people or our country—for example—but it’s necessary to look at problems while finding solutions.  These are not easy solutions; these are the type of answers that come from soul searching and inner work—and are rooted in personal growth.

The Galactic Center, which is believed to be the source of light and love in our universe, is on Sagittarius 28, and Sun (life), Moon (emotions), and Mercury (communications) are conjunct (close) to this point, amplifying the love and light that we feel on a daily basis—and particularly during the period of the New Moon. (We receive this gift of light every year around the time of the winter solstice.)

Sun (life), Moon (emotions), and Mercury (thought/communications) are conjunct (close) in Sagittarius, a fire sign symbolized by the archer. The sign of Sagittarius tends to expand optimism, desire for adventure and the quest, and give focus with the spiritual quest. With Sun and Moon conjunct Mercury (thought), clear expression and communication are heightened. (It’s a wonderful time to say how we feel and express deeper thoughts.)

Sun (life), Moon (emotions), and Mercury (thought) trine (harmonious) Mars (overall energy in life) The trine increases our focus, intent, and ability to work through tasks, exercise, and improve our lives.  (Mars was in retrograde for 2 ½ months. We are now feeling its direct motion, which is energizing on many levels.)

Sun (outer life), Moon (inner life) and Mercury (thought, communication) square Neptune (illusion, mysticism). Squares cause tension between two sets of thoughts and inclinations; they are not comfortable. This square demands a different kind of spirituality, which is not related to personal adherence to the role of light worker. It demands “real” work and sifting through illusion to find universal truth.

Venus (love, feminine) sextiles Jupiter (expansion) and Saturn (limitation, karma). Venus sextile Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) is a lovely combination of good fortune and love, bringing pleasant feelings creativity, positive energy and self-expression. Venus sextile Saturn increases the desire for companionship and feelings of love, particularly serious and long-term relationships. Venus trine Chiron (wounded healer) bestows the opportunity to heal wounds associated with love and the perception of love.

Mars (male, energy) squares Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation), and Pluto (underworld, transformation, collective energy), which is responsible for much of anger and tension in the past few months. (It will alter its position in mid-January.) Squares with Mars create a frustrated warrior who doesn’t know where to swing his sword or hold his shield—so he turns in circles without releasing the building energy, which leads to frustration and anger. (Everyone feels these energies, and it’s necessary to deal with them for another 4-5 weeks.)

The Great Conjunction

Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) conjuncts (close) Saturn (limitation, karma) in Capricorn; both planets will move into Aquarius on December 21, heralding a period of change. It’s an aspect, which has not occurred for 800 years. Jupiter conjunct Saturn brings a positive period of time and growth, particularly if our desires to grow and experience more of life are aligned with practical sense and long-term efforts. It’s a positive time to make changes in life. (There is also the possibility of creating a new structure for the needs of many.)

The sign of Aquarius is about humanitarian values, equality, and humanitarian efforts. This aspect will be present throughout 2021 as well as the square with Uranus, which make life changeable and somewhat unstable. However, it also opens our consciousness to the quantum field.

Jupiter (expansion, good fortune) and Saturn (limitation and karma) square Uranus (sudden change, quantum field).  Jupiter square Uranus can lead to original ideas, new perspectives, visionary ability, and humanitarian reforms. Patience, dedication, and discipline are necessary to put new ideas into form. It can also favor new forms of healing through light, sound, and other innovative methods.

Saturn rules restrictions, limitation, control, government obligations, and economy. We may feel or see conflict in accepting Aquarian ideals and/or making changes on a larger level. Overall, it is a limiting force, which may affect stocks and investments. (As Aquarius rules the group and the individual within the group, it’s wise for light workers to envision a more positive, stable world with harmonious change to offset the Saturn/Uranus influence.)

Jupiter (expansion) and Saturn (limitation) remain conjunct Pluto (subconscious, collective, transformation), and the limiting aspects of the past year stay in place for another month or two.

Tips:

  • For a positive change, there is optimism, energy, and light in the forecast. While it’s lovely, it’s also important to remain intent about our spiritual work and personal quests.
  • Eclipses can feel unsettling. Use the energy to focus on what you want to create in your life.
  • Sun, Moon, Mercury square Neptune (illusion, mysticism). This aspect may cause feelings of tiredness or laziness, but we’re also receiving inspiration from the Divine. It’s a personal decision to give into the desire to relax and dream—or use the planetary energy to move into deeper meditation and the realization of our spiritual quest. Aspects with Neptune expand our intuition ability and perception of the unseen world if we tune into the energy.
  • Venus has beautiful aspects, making it easier to express and receive love. Her trine with Chiron (wounded healer) can help in realizing limited beliefs, which are associated with love.
  • Jupiter conjunct Saturn in Aquarius is obviously important as it’s visible on the winter solstice, and we’ll feel its influence throughout the year. (This aspect last occurred in 1200, and the planets are in a different placement.

Planetary Change: November New Moon

Through the beautiful weather of late fall when trees are loud in color—yet, flowers continue to bloom—the New Moon appears on Sunday, November 15 at 12:05 am.

The New Moon is quieter than the Full Moon when energies are at their height and intensity. This moon phase moves our consciousness into the void, the place between worlds where we can contemplate life and focus our energies for the next cycle. This month’s moon follows Friday the 13th, a day that was once sacred to the goddess, adding to the depth and stillness associated with this phase. (Friday is ruled by Venus, and thirteen represents the void that follows the cycle of the completion indicated by the number 12.)

It’s a feminine moon with eight planets in earth and water, and the forecast brings a slight lift in the current energies, which can often feel heavy and dense. Aspects with Sun, Moon, Jupiter, and Neptune provide a positive boost of energy. (We’re in the last phases of 2020’s heavy and often difficult energy.)

Sun (life), Moon (emotion), and Mercury (communication) in Scorpio intensify deep emotions and increase intuition.  Aspects with the Sun and Moon lighten the chart, adding optimism, a gentle flow of peace, and the opportunity for self-expression through art and other media.

Sun and Moon trine Neptune, the planet of illusion and mysticism, which heightens creativity and our ability to step into the unseen world. Sensitivity and emotions are increased. Dreams are particularly important and may reveal spiritual and/or conscious themes

Sun sextile Jupiter (expansion) boosts confidence and brings feelings of happiness and optimism. Sun sextile Moon sextile Jupiter increases positive feelings, clears the mind, and gives alignment with positive side of life. Uranus heightens curiosity, unusual encounters, and creativity. (It also causes difficulty with routine.)  Moon sextile Uranus brings unusual encounters, changeable moods, and increased intuition.

Mercury (communications) in Scorpio adds to the overall intensity and gives depth to emotion. However, thoughts tend to lack clarity as Mercury squares (tension) Saturn (limitation), which may cause tension when we oscillate between past memories and the desire to move ahead with a new thoughts and aspirations. There’s also confusion between Mercury (personal mind) and Uranus (the higher mind); their opposition may make it difficult to incorporate larger, universal thoughts into the present moment.

Mars is direct—at last—after 2 ½ months of retrograde, which include heavy feelings and stifled emotions. Frustration, anger, and lack of motivation will slowly lift in the next few weeks, and overall energy will increase. Mars remains square Jupiter (expansion) and Pluto (subconscious, transmutation). Both aspects increase drive for success and desire for achievement, but they are often viewed from the ego’s perspective—as opposed to the good of the “all”. Fortunately, this tendency is softened by Mars in direct position.

Venus (love, relationships) is in Libra, a sign ruling beauty and balance. Venus forms contradictory angles and aspects for next week or so. Venus, opposes Mars (action, energy) in Aries.  The aspect intensifies emotions associated with relationships, heightens passion, and can spark anger/frustration. Venus square Jupiter increases the desire for excess, which is reflected in overspending, overeating, and self- Venus square Saturn causes tiredness and a desire to retreat and rest. Venus square Pluto increases tension and intensity in relationships, particularly with the issue of power.

Jupiter (expansion) conjunct Saturn (limitation) expands opportunities and desire for growth. Saturn creates barriers for growth, but Jupiter helps with overcoming them. Actually, it’s a time when dissatisfaction can become positive—if we decide to change. Jupiter sextile Neptune increases harmony and good fortune. Opportunities often appear under this aspect.

Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto continue to affect our lives through COVID, isolation, and the difficulty of the structures in the outer world. Fortunately, it begins to change in January 2021. The energy lingers for some time, but it begins to fade as we move into another cycle of time and energy.

Tips

  • A slight, positive shift in energy begins with the New Moon. Aspects with Sun and Moon encourage creativity, prayer, and meditation. Sun/Moon trine Neptune places emphasis on dreams, signs, and messages from the unseen world. Intuition is expanded through aspects with Uranus.
  • Mercury (thought, communications) is affected by its placement in Scorpio, making it difficult to separate thoughts and emotions. Mercury opposes Uranus (sudden change, quantum field), meaning we travel between the clear thoughts of the higher mind and the static of the lower mind.
  • Mars (energy, assertion) is direct, slowly clearing the frustrated feelings of the past few months. Also, our physical energy will increase substantially in the next few weeks. Mars squares Jupiter (expansion) and Pluto (underworld, collective consciousness), which can increase the desire to succeed and/or push forward with goals.
  • Venus (feminine, relationships) forms many different aspects in this chart ranging from overly indulgent to intense emotion to the desire to escape from life. (I imagine we’ll experience the many influences over the next week or so.)
  • Jupiter (expansion) conjuncts Saturn (limitation, karma). Although Saturn is associated with karma, it can also act as the teacher. It creates hurdles and blocks, which build skills that are necessary for success. Jupiter enlarges these skills, giving optimism and drive to create a new and better life.

New Moon Forecast: Intense Weather

The New Moon appears on Friday, October 16 at 3:31 pm. The New Moon brings a brief period of quiet and stillness. In the darkness, the stars sing in the velvet night. During the day, the natural world is particularly beautiful with Sun and Moon in Libra, an air sign ruled by Venus.  Libra brings balance, harmony, creativity, and an emphasis on relationships.

This chart brings lovely influences, which can carry us through the more challenging ones. Venus (love, beauty) forms a trine with Jupiter (expansion) and Uranus (sudden change, quantum field.) The message is direct. It’s possible to align with the heart and move into unconditional love, which leads to expansion and good fortune (Jupiter). In this place of expansion, we can attune to the higher messages of the quantum field. (The quantum field is the place of angels and miracles where we receive visions of what life can become—which is often distinctly different from the laws of physicality. It’s where our souls get a boost from universal energies.)

Venus (love, beauty, relationships) in Virgo, an earth sign ruling hygiene, healing, and order, trines Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation, karma), Uranus (sudden change) and Pluto (transformation). The large number of trines suggest potential answers are found in reflecting on love and using our creative energy to focus on beauty, expression, and insights that come from the heart. Venus opposes Neptune (mysticism, illusion), which may reveal illusions about love and life.

On October 17, the Sun and the star, Arcturus, move into their annual alignment. It’s said that we receive new energies of light and insights to move beyond frustration and doubt into greater love and understanding. Again, we have to open to it as light codes initially feel overwhelming, but it’s how we evolve.

Light codes are waves of energy, which enhance Intuition and perception; they also open our minds to universal truth.  It takes time to accurately interpret new information, so meditate on insights and consider the time and reflection needed for adequate assimilation.

Challenging Aspects

Many aspects intensify the forecast for the next 3 weeks. On another level, energy is energy. It’s more about what we do with it than how it feels.

Sun and Moon square (tension) Mars (energy), Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation, karma) and Pluto (underworld, transformation). The planets form T-square that creates pressure, amplifying the feeling of limitation, which has occurred in 2020. On the positive, we can rewrite the limitations on life (Sun), moon (emotions) from Mars and the other planets. We can use our time and energy (Mars) to expand practices such as meditation, exercise, and creativity. We can find strength and discipline in limitation (Saturn) and transform our lives (Pluto).

Mercury (communications) is retrograde until November 3, which slows movement, confuses time and thought, and affects electronics. Mercury in Scorpio reveals underlying truths, but they may be difficult to decipher until Mercury moves direct. Mercury opposes Uranus (sudden change, quantum field), and it can lead us to greater truths or confusing reads on the surface of current reality. Mercury trines (harmonious) Neptune (illusion/mysticism, which opens our consciousness to messages from the Divine.

Mars (overall energy, action) is also retrograde in Aries, which can bring the desire to act without the energy to do so—or a very strong desire, which is aligned with the ego and not the inner self. It can feel frustrating and upsetting, or it can reveal what we truly want in life. Mars squares Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation), and Pluto (underworld, transformation). The aspect brings tension, a desire to act, tension, and agitation. It also accelerates the desire and need for action and change.

Jupiter (expansion) in Capricorn trines Uranus (sudden change, quantum field), and it helps in having strength to move through uncertainty. The aspect increases creative genius, new solutions, and unconventional answers.

Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation), and Pluto (underworld, transformation) remain in conjunction, and the aspects, which began in early 2020, continue through this placement. On the positive, Pluto takes us down deep to find resources and unknown aspects of the self and life for personal transformation.

Tips

  • It is a challenging chart with aspects that can cause tension, emotional responses, or anxiety. However, there are also beautiful and encouraging aspects with Venus, which open the heart and lift our spirit.
  • Mercury (communication) is retrograde. Stay with current plans, review thoughts and feelings, and rest when possible.
  • Mars in retrograde can create the build-up of tension and a desire to act quickly or impulsively. Stay on track and move evenly through life.
  • Jupiter’s trine with Uranus can help in finding new solutions to problems and gives strength.
  • There are aspects in the chart, which will help in finding calm and focus, but it takes work to create results. Meditate, visualize, and focus whenever possible.

Sabian Symbols, based on the work of Lynda Hill

Sabian symbols depict the energy of a sign and its degree.

Sun and Moon are on Libra 24, “A Third Wing on the Left Side of a Butterfly” indicates imbalance and awkwardness in our personal lives and emotions. Certainly, everyone is thrown a bit off balance in the current waves of life.

Mercury is placed on Scorpio 12, “A Brilliant Assembly of Dignitaries at an Official Embassy Ball”. The symbol can (accurately) point to political planning, ethics and manners, and diplomatic standoffs.

Venus sits on Virgo 17, “A Volcanic Eruption Bringing Dust Clouds, Flowing Lava, and Earth Rumblings”. It could refer the build-up of emotional energy over many months—or life changing events. It indicates a need for release of emotion and expression of anger.

Mars is on Aries 21, “A Boxer Entering the Ring”. With Mars in retrograde, the symbol may refer to our need to make changes, express self-assertion, or determination. It’s also about using power in a positive sense for personal expression as opposed to aggression.

Jupiter sits on Capricorn 20, “A Hidden Choir Singing During a Religious Service”. It’s a depiction of spiritual music and energy, which uplifts the congregation or listeners. It can refer to the universal voice that is unseen but speaks to the soul.

New Moon Forecast

The New Moon appears on Tuesday, August 18 at 10:41 pm ET. The New Moon typically brings less energy than a full moon. For those who are sensitive, they may experience a feeling of “flatness” while moving into the void of New Moon. (The lovely part comes with our ability to focus and project wishes/dreams while watching their fruition between now and the Full Moon.)

Earth and Fire dominate the chart. Put them together, and we have new earth—the force of heat, passion, and stability. (Volcanoes come from this combination of elements.)  Perhaps, we’re creating our “new” self along with a new world. (The energies definitely lend themselves to this.) It’s a wonderfully fiery and passionate forecast with Sun (life), Moon (emotions), and Mercury (thought) conjunct in Leo, the sign that rules the heart, passion, and warmth. Conjunctions (close) between Sun, Moon, and Mercury amplify solar energy and light. Mars (energy, assertion) in Aries, a fire sign, adds to the heat.

Venus (love, beauty) in Cancer expands emotional awareness, need for security, and vulnerability. While it increases our need for emotional security, it also brings vulnerability—and hypersensitivity. (If we think someone is hurting our feelings, it’s good to remember that it may come from Venus in Cancer—not a factual event.) Venus opposes Jupiter (expansion). Think of two opposite forces and receiving a ray of energy from each simultaneously or at different times. Jupiter in Capricorn is about seeking status through loving relationships, and Venus in Cancer seeks security. The opposition can dim our desire to work, increasing the urge to spend or seek pleasure.

Mars rules passion, sex, assertion, and overall energy. Its nature is masculine, particularly when placed in Aries. Mars is quite powerful in this forecast; however, it’s important to focus only on development of current projects as it will move into retrograde September-November. Think of retrograde Mars as receding physical energy. Every day, we will have a little less energy for over 2 months. (Use this time to build vitality.)

There are beautiful trines and frustrating/energizing squares with Mars, planet of action and assertion. The trines heighten creativity and passion, but the squares indicate blocks and pressure. Sun (life), Moon (emotions), and Mercury (thought) trine Mars, which provides an abundance of creativity, heightened emotion, and assertion. Mars squares Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation), and Pluto (subconscious, transformation). The squares are quite useful as they exert pressure and urge action. However, it’s necessary to separate the ego’s desires from the inner self—if we want true progress. Quiet moments in meditation and time for self-reflection will keep our energy moving correctly through the tension of the squares.

Other Planets (and Retrogrades)

If it feels difficult to complete tasks or takes more energy than usual, it’s likely due to multiple retrogrades.  Jupiter (good fortune), Saturn (limitation), Uranus (sudden change), Neptune (mysticism), and Pluto (underworld) are all retrograde. It takes more energy than usual to create change in the material world.

Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto remain in conjunction, accounting for the flow of current energies on a global level. With three influential planets in Capricorn, we experience many of the qualities of Saturn such as limitation, loneliness, and isolation. Jupiter (expansion, good luck) expands the limiting sensations, associated with aspects of the Saturn/Pluto conjunction. Pluto (subconscious, transformation) brings the problems and underlying darkness of social structures and rules/regulations to the surface.

Into the Mystical

Jupiter sextile Neptune brings harmony, flow, and a sense of peacefulness. It increases optimism and good luck. Jupiter trine (harmonious) Uranus helps with adjusting to change, applying creativity in new ways, and allowing positive opportunities to flow into our lives.

Neptune sextile Pluto encourages examination of existent structures in society. It boosts our ability to tap into inspiration and faith about the future. The aspect amplifies the ability to feel the trends of the future—and the ability to merge into the higher collective consciousness.

North Node

Sun (life), Moon (emotions), Mercury (communications), and Mars (energy) sextile North Node in Gemini. The North Node represents the direction of growth attained by moving through the unknown; it also represents inner gain for humanity at large. (North Node in Gemini is about examining concrete thought forms and intellectual processes.)

Sun (life) sextile North Node heightens vitality and enthusiasm for life. Moon (emotions) sextile North Node heightens imagination and accuracy with intuition and psychic abilities. Mercury (communication) sextile North Node expands mental ability and intellect. Mars (overall energy) sextile North Node encourages forward motion, initiation, and the ability to create circumstances that move life forward.

Tips

  • Many aspects of the chart, including placement of Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Mars, encourage creativity, forward motion, and dedication of energy in life. It’s very important to ask your self (inner self) what is truly important—and to dedicate yourself to this time of movement.
  • The upcoming retrograde with Mars asks for dedication only to ongoing project—not new ones. It doesn’t provide the energy for new projects. (It’s wise to work on health and immune system between now and Sept 14, when the retrograde begins. Mars retrograde “takes” energy.)
  • Venus in Cancer heightens emotional sensitivity, and Venus opposition Saturn can increase vulnerability—and misreading the words and actions of others.
  • Aspects with North Node encourage embracing the unknown. It allows us to sense the flow of the future and move more easily into it, particularly if the objective is humanitarian.
  • This New Moon is perfect for visualization and projecting a kinder, better future. Aspects with Neptune may help in connecting with the mystical world.

Sabian Symbols, based on the work of Lynda Hill

Sun and Moon are on Leo 27, “Daybreak—The Luminescence of Dawn in the Eastern Sky” symbolizes renewal, hope, and possibility. Dawn marks the transformational hour when both worlds (day and night) open on the spiritual level. Perhaps, we will find a deeper spiritual vibration for the coming months as well as a heightened rapport with the inner self.

Mercury sits on Leo 29, “A Mermaid Has Climbed the Rocky Shore of a Bleak Coast; She Awaits the Prince Who Will Bring Her Immorality.” It’s another beautiful symbol, referring the alchemy of the soul, depicting the union of yin (female) and yang (male). It’s about moving into love and the next level of life after surmounting difficulties (bleak coast).

Venus is placed on Cancer 11, “A Clown is Caricaturing Well-Known Personalities”.  It’s a depiction of exaggeration and satire as well as people pretending to depict themselves falsely. (We know there’s currently plenty of this in the world.) The symbol asks for sincerity, real emotions, and true expression of thoughts to move into a state of love.

Mars is on Aries 25, “A Double Promise Reveals Its Inner and Outer Meanings.” The oracle asks for perception of the truth on a deeper level as opposed to the rewards on the outer level. (It could refer to the appearance of society and/or commerce—as well as looking more intently at other people.)

Jupiter sits on Capricorn 19, “A Child of About Five Carrying A Huge Shopping Bag Filled with Groceries”.  The symbol refers to someone who has been burdened by responsibilities, which may feel heavy or overwhelming. It may refer to the efforts of light workers to carry karma and/or the weight of others during this time of change. Jupiter rules good fortune, and balance can help in this situation. Make time to rest, release what you can, and focus on self-care when possible.

New World, New Moon Forecast!

The New Moon is in Gemini, which rules the mind, communication, the wind, clouds, birds and all creatures of the air. It presents  several planets in mutable (changeable) signs, which tend to represent the two sides of the self, the ego and soul. (In alchemy, we learn about carefully integrating the ego and acting on the soul.) With Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Venus in Gemini, we also experience fluctuation with the past and future selves–who were before the pandemic and who we will become in the future.
The New Moon appears on Friday, May 22nd at 1:38 pm. Sun (life), Moon (emotions), and Mercury (mind, communications)  in Gemini sharpens our ability to speak, write, and express our truth; it’s also easy to become lost in the ramblings of the mind when we lose our center. (Every sign has negative and positive qualities.)
Sun and Moon trine (harmonious) Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation), and Pluto (subconscious, transformation), which helps in finding our way through recent changes in life. (Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto are believed to influence the current situation, and they are in retrograde, which eases the feeling and energy of the current collective. Sun and Moon square (tension) Mars, the planet of action); the square elicits strong emotion and frustration/impatience as associated with action.
One of the challenging aspects is Venus (love, relationships) retrograde in Gemini. Venus squares (tension) Neptune (mysticism/illusion). Duality is intrinsic in the placement as we long for the love, found in dreams, and experience dissatisfaction in personal relationships. It’s a confusing aspect and placement that reveals what we truly want with love, how our energies are out of alignment, and a perpetual desire for boundaries and reassessment. Fortunately, Venus square Neptune also inspires creativity, heightens perception of beauty, and opens us to the recognition of the reality/illusion of our dreams about love.
  • Mercury (thought) in Gemini is beautifully placed for excellent communication, mental inspiration, and perceiving the higher mind. Mercury conjuncts (close to) Venus (love), and it creates a wonderful harmony between the heart and mind. Mercury squares Neptune (mysticism, illusion), which can bring doubt and confusion about our decisions and thoughts. With this aspect, we have to use intuition and align with the heart to know if our perception is true or false. (Think of the contradictions currently presented by the media.)
  • Mars (action) in Pisces is often confused on an emotional level. As mutable, water sign, it wants to love its way through life on a cosmic level, but life calls for boundaries, physical action, and speaking our truth. Mars in Pisces becomes frustrated when others fail to perceive intuitive messages, and it can lead to feelings of victimization and anger.
  • Jupiter (expansion), Saturn (limitation), and Pluto ( underworld, transformation) remain conjunct as the three rulers of the current time (pandemic).  Fortunately, they are moving in a retrograde direction, which weakens the energy. However, we will continue to see what’s hidden in the darkness of the world, and, hopefully, make discoveries that align us with nature–and the universe!
Tips:
1) The forecast is pleasant in comparison to recent months. Trines with Sun/Moon are uplifting, and they bring feelings of optimism.
2) The quantity of mutable signs indicates that we’re experiencing dual aspects of life and self, which increase the sensation of polarity. We may feel a pull between the past and future or the ego and soul. (When we oscillate between aspects of the self, we’re actually deciding what we want to create in the future.)
3) Squares with Mercury (communication), Venus (love), and Neptune (mysticism/illusion) can cloud issues and understanding. It’s necessary to use intuition to move through life.
4) Venus (love) square Neptune in retrograde brings dissatisfaction with relationships. By learning what we truly want (the opposite of our experience), we can find it–particularly through appropriate boundaries and expressing (and identifying) the true feelings of our heart.
5) Mars in Pisces intensifies emotions and acts on feelings. It’s best to observe thoughts and feelings–and detach before taking action.
